taking it one step further, bi ppl should have multiple diff bi friends who all have diff types of split attraction so you don’t form a really monolithic idea of the bi experience or become one of those “AS A BISEXUAL I CANT STAND BISEXUALS” bis
Anyways, shout out to lesbians. Lesbians make up a good proportion of my IRL queer community and they are very cool and swag. I hope all lesbians have a wonderful day today 🩷
@biephemera EXACTLY like when I dated men, I wasn’t in a visibly queer relationship. But I was not “functionally straight.” Functionally straight women don’t need to come out to their bfs and hope they aren’t dating a homophobe.
@GGaythr K I feel like you don’t quite get how being closeted works, which is strange for someone who apparently has studied this stuff at the Master’s level. A bi person can be closeted while in a relationship. Both things can be true at once.
Men, I honestly don’t want to see you saying “I will beat your fucking ass” or “we need to start beating these mfers” unless you are fr going to it. I’m sorry but I’m not touched by your hypothetical violence.
Most of you can’t even say “Hey man, that’s not cool” in small +
🧵 HISTORICAL BICONS 🩷💜💙
James Baldwin (1924 – 1987) was an American bisexual writer and civil rights activist who garnered acclaim for his essays, novels, plays, and poems. His 1953 novel Go Tell It on the Mountain has been ranked by Time magazine as one of the top 100 +
@cutelipssx I have also been with men who paid attention to how I was responding and checked in with me to make sure I was okay. Clearly, it is possible.
@GGaythr@inannella And 2. Are gay people in lavender marriages not queer then? Or single gay people? Or does this just apply to bisexuals for some reason?
@GGaythr@inannella 1. Bisexuals do not fit into society in a “normal” way regardless of our relationships status. Sometimes we can hide while being in a relationship, but the fact that we need to hide at all should tell you that the world is generally not kind to us.
@inannella However, I do appreciate you encouraging lesbians to think about how they might contribute to this problem as well, because I do see that happening. I’m sorry people got weird and harassed you over this very reasonable take lmao.
@inannella I will “yes, and” this and say that bi women do have a responsibility to work through our internalized biphobia/bimisogyny to get to a place where we can proudly be bi, and it’s not lesbians’ job to do that work for us.
