🚨 As the DRC Presided Over the UN Security Council, Victims Called for Equal Justice

Today, as the Democratic Republic of the Congo presided over the United Nations Security Council, representatives of the Congolese Tutsi/Banyamulenge diaspora formally submitted an urgent memorandum to the UN Security Council, calling for immediate action to address the ongoing humanitarian and security crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The memorandum urges impartial accountability for violations of international law, unhindered humanitarian access, meaningful protection of civilians, and the equal application of justice to all communities affected by the conflict.

The submission was accompanied by a peaceful demonstration led by members of the Congolese diaspora, who called on the international community to move beyond statements of concern and take concrete steps to prevent further suffering, protect vulnerable civilians, and uphold the principles of human rights and international law without discrimination.

The timing of this appeal carries a powerful message: while the DRC presided over the Security Council, those most affected by the conflict came to the United Nations seeking equal protection, accountability, and justice under international law.

No community should be denied protection. No victim should be overlooked. Peace, human dignity, accountability, and equal justice must apply to all.

Le ciel de Minembwe s’ouvre comme un livre,
Les étoiles y inscrivent des promesses d’éternité,
La nuit se dissout en cendres de ténèbres,
Et l’aube, tel un phénix, renaît flamboyante.

S’attaquer à Benjamin Babunga, c’est s’attaquer à la vérité, à la mémoire et à l’intelligence congolaise. When Pro-#Tshisekedi propagandists cannot challenge the message, they attack the messenger. They fabricate doubts about his nationality, digging up old work history in Rwanda, while ignoring that thousands of Congolese have worked across borders due to massive unemployment and instability at home. This changes nothing.

#Banyamulenge identity is not something outsiders can easily fake. Within this tight-knit minority community, family ties, lineages, and histories are well-known, including with those #Banyamulenge in #Kinshasa leadership positions. No one in the community denies Jado’s Banyamulenge roots. Minorities recognize their own; impostors get caught immediately.

Attacking the speaker only proves they have no answer to the suffering of civilians, the drone strikes, or the blockade.

The truth stands alone. Judge this speech by its content: the call to stop bombing Congolese children, lift the siege, and end the persecution. Silence is complicity.

@RevColeman I can see negative emotions of hate for Tutsi inspiring your writings! You tried to erase them in Rwanda but they’re still there as survivors. The same in Congo, there will always be Tutsi regardless hardships, sufferings and trial of ethic cleansing!
