HUGE SCIENCE MISSION WIN with Dominator weather balloon sampling the eye and sting jet of Hurricane Isaias as it interacted with an upper low to the west. This is a trajectory with wind and thermodynamics attached. Extreme engineer @WillClay25 overnight science mission
Beautiful day for a calm picnic here in Destin, Florida, where an extremely high pressure system is here and giving us completely blue clear skies and conditions perfect for a salad-heavy picnic
The wrath of category 3 major Hurricane Isaias has arrived in Fort Walton Beach to Destin, Florida with winds gusting over 80 mph. Ears popping with wind surges
Hurricane Isaias continues to intensify now with 105 mph winds and central pressure down to 969 mb. An eye feature has appeared on satellite recently with explosive convection tonight. We expect a run at even category 3 before landfall. A tornado outbreak is also expected with this hurricane along and east of the track
Here is @WillClay25 gearing up the science mission for Hurricane Isaias, which is still on track for approaching the central Gulf Coast (Mobile to Pensacola area) as a category 2 #hurricane with expanding wind field.
Team Dominator will be measuring wind speed and launching miniaturized sensors into the eye wall, targeting the tornado-like whirls.
We are about to head south
BREAKING: Hurricane #Isaias is intensifying rapidly and is now a category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph. Team #Dominator has mobilized the live science team to measure surface winds and launch sensors into tornado-like whirls in the eye wall. Landfall expected near Pensacola on the night of October 9
The HWRF model now shows a slightly earlier landfall of category 2 Hurricane Isaias now near Pensacola, Florida around 7-9 pm tomorrow.
Team Dominator science team is in-route to measure live surface wind data and launch sensors into the tornado-like whirls in the eye wall.
We also plan to chase the #tornado outbreak expected in the eastern semi-circle of Isaias as it moves inland
This is a code red update
The #Dominator F150 has been FIXED just in time to chase Hurricane #Isaias thanks to Jake’s Custom Diesel
@WillClay25 has mobilized the science mission and we are in-route to the Gulf Coast. We will be live streaming the data we collect
The HWRF model shows 92-L strengthening into a major Hurricane Isaias on approach to the central Gulf Coast the night of October 9
This is a high ceiling outlier, but over the years, I have learned to hedge a little stronger with intensity forecasts for Gulf of Mexico tropical cyclones.
Team #Dominator is working on a storm chase plan for this storm.
We will be watching closely
