Saira Baloch has a tough but fulfilling job supporting WFP's field operations in Balochistan province, #Pakistan, as Nutrition Officer. Her support to the community is vital to boost the nutrition of mothers and children.
Here is what lights her day up at work🎥👇
Proud to have opened the Crafts and Creation centre in the Neelum Valley of AJK providing an outlet for local women to sell locally produced items for the home. @WFPpakistan helping to build livelihoods and resilience among communities vulnerable to climate change.
UN #FoodSystems Summit +2 in Rome on 24-26 July will provide an excellent opportunity to mobilise support for priority actions for food system transformation in Pakistan. @WFPPakistan ready to lend all support to @FoodSecurityPK
So grateful for on-going support from @USAID_Pakistan and the commitment from @ColemanUSAID for our efforts to combat malnutrition and food insecurity in flood affected districts in Sindh. Our team as determined as ever to help in partnership with @unicefpak @ShifaFoundation
Delighted to exchange with Amb @SangpyoSuh and to thank the Govt and people of Korea for their generous support to @WFPPakistan response to flood affected people. @koreaembassyPK
🧵 THREAD: Barely anyone had heard of ‘food security’ six years ago. Now, world leaders and people everywhere have made it a top priority — donating over $55 billion to fight famine and hunger. While the needs are great, the generosity has been great too. (1/4)
So impressed by the capacity and competence of @pesrescue1122 . Thank you for hosting me today and especially for the support for @WFPPakistan flood response in 2022.
Head World Food Programme @WFP Pakistan @Chris_Kaye001 with Dr.Amara visited @pesrescue1122, appreciated the timely support of Rescue 1122 to @WFP for Flood Relief Activities 2022 in Sindh.
Rescue1122Punjab teams with33boats36OBM and over 200LifeJackets assisted in Sindh Flood.
Visited villages affected by the #PakistanFloods near #Shikarpur. Moved by resilience of the people amid difficult conditions. Good to personally witness @WFPPakistan helping the affectees with recovery. 🇩🇪 has provided €185m for 🇵🇰 flood relief, with #WFP receiving €41m.
Partnerships have been central to bring needed but scarce resources to flood affected in🇵🇰 . Thank you Canada 🇨🇦 @ACTED Telenor and above all, the Community Management teams to ensure the effective prioritisation and delivery of cash. @WFPPakistan
I was so impressed by the focus of the local community on what they need to get through this difficult time — 🇨🇦 is here to listen, support and deliver #InternationalDevelopmentHumanitarianAssistance with partners where it is needed in flood-stricken🇵🇰. #IDW2023#IPS@CanadaDev
Really appreciate @Scanlon_Leslie time, energy and 🇨🇦 commitment to support @WFPPakistan ongoing efforts to help recovery in flood affected Sindh, 🇵🇰. Structural reform of food management practise is needed now to help small farmers and vulnerable communities
Allah Wasain, a widow, lost her house, rice crop & cattle to the floods in D.I.Khan, KP.
The needs of the ppl on the ground are massive & their capacity to cope is hampered by economic hardships. Humanitarian efforts must continue to help families to stand back on their feet.
Food and nutrition security for at least 4 million flood affected people remains tenuous at best - @WFPPakistan will do all it can to support recovery for those still struggling to survive together with @bisp and @UNinPak
The people of Sindh are struggling to survive in the face of overwhelming adversity.
We must do everything we can to support these people in their time of need.

Thank you Germany 🇩🇪 for your partnership & generous contribution of €36M to support the life-saving work of WFP.🤝
The funding will enable WFP to provide a lifeline for hundreds of thousands whose lives have been upended by the devastating floods in 🇵🇰.
📢The humanitarian crisis is far from over! Shortages of food, increasing malnutrition, an outbreak of water-borne diseases, and no access to health facilities are still the reality for many.
Families like Sumaira's can barely cope with the hardships. More support is needed!

Anwar, an ex-athlete from Jaffarabad, lost both his legs in a road accident. The floods swept away his shop & cattle - the whole source of his income.
WFP’s food assistance has helped families like Anwar's brave the daily battle for survival, but more support is needed.
The humanitarian crisis is far from over. Here's why:
- Inadequate access to food & nutrition for those who remain displaced.
- Reliance on negative coping strategies, such as sale of assets, withdrawal of children from school & skipping meals.
