@whignewtons If Justice's opinions must ideologically differ for a case to be "big," it's misleadingly tautological to claim they disagree on big cases. If there were 20 cases that seem big, but the Justices disagree ideologically on 1, that isn't evidence of political bias.

@whignewtons @DavidAFrench Despite Gorsuch's opinion, the majority wasn't worried about plea bargains (coercive or not), but unjust sentences. They ground it in the judiciary's interest, but the vibe is "that's just wrong!" Thomas is cold-blooded, but not wrong.

@WillyRice The task force is smart. It will perhaps clear up questions like whether the amendment speaks to a woman pastor over children's ministry, VBS, female professor at a seminary, co-leading a small group, sharing a testimony, missionary wife speaking, HR dept roles, etc.

@whignewtons @DavidAFrench I take David's point about homogeneity causing polarization, but wisdom should overcome this. Intellectual humility, seeking the best opposing arguments, evaluating hypos that test the limits of your view, etc. is what polarized (unwise) groups don't do
