I caught some of @bbc5live coverage this morning and was appalled that the presenters were platforming anti-immigration rhetoric from listeners as though they were legitimate concerns. Nothing justifies this violence and racism
Remember those words scrawled on the wall โ "FUCK PAKIS" โ whenever a pundit or a journalist tries to make out that this is all a misguided expression of legitimate concerns about immigration.
@netzmo@theLasagna This is wild. In the UK everything is in paperback and only a select few YA/teen get hardback release, it's even less for MG. Essentially only stuff that they know will sell in hardback and it'll be out in paperback for under ยฃ10 within a year
@PhilipPullman@a_marshall08 @lucasjmaxwell @educationgovuk@tes@guardian@GuardianEdu@SchoolsWeek Adding the caveat that they must also be paid well. I was a librarian in a school for two years but had to leave because I couldn't pay my bills. Saddest thing I've ever had to do, but you're not going to retain librarians who know their stuff if they can't afford to live
Worth repeating: PHONE CONTRACTS ARE NOT LUXURIES, you try living in society without one. But also, why shouldn't people on benefits have nice things? I'm certain there are very few people who put having
Sky TV above feeding their child

@Harryslaststand Don't get me started. My parents' village is full of them and the roads are tiny. Getting anywhere is a nightmare and all they're doing is driving 5 minutes to drop their child at school
@The_ChrisShaw I almost got a job in Manchester last year and I am so glad I didn't, the journey from Leeds 3 or 4 times a week would be hell. Makes me so angry that is impossible to rely on trains between two of our biggest cities ๐
Today, a mother-of-three has been jailed for 28 months after using abortion pills to end her own pregnancy.
No woman can ever go through this again.
We need abortion law reform in Great Britain NOW.

The UK should be investing in publicly controlled renewable energy for independent, low-cost energy for everyone, forever.
Not investing in new fossil fuel drilling that gives billions in profits to a handful of billionaires while harming the future for our younger generation.
