It grieves me deeply that Johnny Hunt would not have the spiritual and emotional intelligence to realize the deep trauma that he is causing. Not only to the victim of his abuse, but also to all survivors who are watching and re-living their pain as they watch him return…
Quick 🧵 on how my doctoral research has enriched my faith & appreciation for Scripture:
My area of research was intertextuality in Psalm 105 and how these features inform our understanding of covenants in ancient Israel.
Yes, pretty dry academic stuff. 🙂

2/2 ☝️Instead, we celebrate the Incarnation of Christ every day.
Every day is Christmas!
But, Holiday joy is gone.
Why must #SBC crush survivors’ souls – devastating, destroying lives and families?
In Jesus' name, why?

1/2 We don't celebrate the Holidays.
For some of us, every Holiday of our adult lives is stained by #SBC violence, sexual abuse, slander, broken relationships, death of families and friends, disability, brutal cold, hunger, threats of eviction, or removal to a state facility.
"These people have shared in the joys of my life and helped sustain me through times of grief and loss. They have loved me, as Jesus loved them. They are friends of Jesus; they are also friends of mine. And that has made all the difference."

"...this passage teaches two things equally and is to be interpreted...to mean that women are to be considered ministers, and that such ought to be received into the ministry." #3rdcenturyperspective
Got a chance to write about how parents and textbooks talk about the role of Christianity in American history -- and how what they tell kids about the nation's values-- and its shortcomings.

In the meantime, the #SBC has filed multiple motions to dismiss my friend Hannah-Kate's court case and have her under a gag order. If your motion to dismiss has been denied multiple times, maybe it's time to let the evidence play out in court.
I keep hearing that the #SBC and their appointed sex abuse task force are working hard behind the scenes to bring about change and that we should all be patient. I understand that, but In the meantime, survivors are suffering.
“While the task is more difficult than anticipated, our team is united by a Christ-honoring passion to help churches prevent sexual abuse & minister well to abuse survivors. We understand the urgency of what we have been called to do...” @BlalockMarshall

@HeatherLH05 There is progress and ongoing research!
These #Parosmia resources may be helpful to you.
Distorted smell can occur after head trauma, neurological injury, or viral (#COVID) infections.

Why don't some people who suffered from #COVID ever get their sense of smell back?
According to a new study, it may be due to a declining number of olfactory nerve cells caused by an ongoing #immune assault.

More talk? 😢 How do current #SBC actions comport with this talk?
Somehow, we are less than encouraged. Isn't this update just a rehash of the Sept. update?
It's hard to forget how #theylie.
Often.
