@BaseballJeff1 Mostly runs...
ALSO- Giants need to have ONLY 1 Fanfest next year- at Oracle & play MLB teams in the exhibition games at Oracle- face current MLB pitchers! (which they had not seen since they left Arizona).
@RchapmanJ@PavlovicNBCS I guess this is what happens when you can't look at the back of a baseball card anymore or realize what a top 5 Cy Young candidate is year in and year out.
@SSHarmon79@PavlovicNBCS Obviously, but RISP AVG is not set in stone and can vary from year to year- improving contact in general should help with RBIs in big spots.
Points being- better to have Chapman concentrate his OBP strength in the two hole & have Adames' proclivity for RBIs cleanup.
@SSHarmon79@PavlovicNBCS Also his K% has actually been trending downwards already in his first two seasons as a Giant.
The eye test which doesn't see this is probably due to his low AVG w RISP.
@SSHarmon79@PavlovicNBCS Yeah, he's been showing an all fields approach as well which is part of the increased contact agenda.
His Ks need to go down for sure, but only once has he been a 190 K guy- years ago.
Ks won't disappear, but less can mean a .350 OBP with power.
We'll see, health also a key.
@BenKaspick It's all good. Better to prove it on the field and in the batters box.
One the biggest faults of lineup projections is a focus on the top few spots of the order and not all NINE in tandem.
The Giants have improved in both areas and have added depth options for match-ups.
@SSHarmon79@PavlovicNBCS That's what Chapman specifically talked about at the beginning of Spring. Meanwhile he also had a .340 OBP last year and continues to be an excellent base runner.
@bluewideriver@susanslusser I didn't understand Melvin's immediate approach to put Adames 2 or to announce JHL as a 3 hitter early.
That said, Vitello has much better cards to lay on the table.
@susanslusser Smart lineup. Last year we had JHL 3rd. I don't remember 9/1 but it wasn't Bader/Arraez.
Chappy 2 and Adames 4 is the better approach than what Melvin did...
Helps have the Devers guy too.
@GiantHotTakes Go Early!
Don't drive!
Be prepared for pregame festivities which are a game themselves...
Use the MUNI T train shuttle from BART Powell St.
If you're drinking, pick a good spot away from the Ballpark...
If you don't care about pregame, still good to be in line 30 min b4 1st pitch
@ImNotHuman123 And the following season in AA/AAA Matos absolutely raked.
Top Prospect rankings are meaningless & biased towards low minors & "athleticism"
