@ZJAyres This is a wonderful story! I won the first poster prize at this year's EAP and get to write about my research in an article with The Analytical Scientist magazine. I hope my trajectory is even half as successful as yours!
@UKDRI@ucl Researchers @MRC_LMB determined the structure of the molecule associated with ALS (a common form of MND) which could be used as a target for drug development, and developing more effective diagnostic tests: https://t.co/nvHn3J9J3z ๐ธ @MRC_LMB 3/
Binding Ub may be preventing UBQLN2 intermolecular interactions that are necessary for LLPS. We hope this work has shown the applicability of IM-MS for studying these systems to shed light on the confirmations of phase separating IDPs. 5/x, x = 5.
I am so thrilled to share that my first, first author paper is now available to read in JACS!
I couldn't have done it without my incredible supervisor @rebeccabev5 (and twitterless Waters supervisor Jakub). This work was born out of a wonderful 1/x

We then moved towards disruption of LLPS by adding ubiquitin, UBQLN2's cellular binding partner which was shown previously by @Castaneda_lab. We observed binding of Ub to UBQLN2 dimers and observed more compact geometries for complexes compared to UBQLN2 alone. We proposed 4/x
This weekend at EAP 2023 was a great time for the Beveridge group and showcasing our research. I won best poster prize, Izaak won runner up poster prize and Cara won best poster pitch! @ASN_RSC
Come join us as a PhD student to research some very interesting biological systems, you may even get to work with me on the ever evolving UBQLN2 project!
