President Obama was the kind of President you want to see in the White House: smart, steady, honorable, and he led with kindness. He’s a good husband, dad, and role model for our country.

One thing that always stood out to me was his magical combination of being both ultra-competitive and really easygoing. It allowed him to surf the waves of politics, and it taught me a lot about leadership. (He also loved playing with my oldest son when he was just a baby!)

It was a tremendous honor to have his trust to carry the nuclear codes and to be by his side to handle emergencies for the country.

It’s incredible to see his legacy celebrated - I can’t wait to visit the new library!

Staff Sergeant Archer is a real life action hero ♥️

Selfless Service: Staff Sgt. Nigel C. Archer, Jr., displayed quick thinking, exemplary leadership and heroism while responding to an accident near Comayagua, Honduras. While stationed at Soto Cano Air Base with the 612th Air Base Squadron, Archer noticed fresh tire skid marks disappearing from the road. He realized that a vehicle had driven off the roadway after being involved in a collision. Jumping into action, Archer slid down the 50-foot wet embankment, where he discovered an overturned van with a family of local Hondurans trapped inside.

Archer immediately secured the scene to begin extracting the victims out of the vehicle. Despite a language barrier, he created an expedient rescue plan and directed others to call for emergency help. Archer assessed the victims’ injuries to help paramedics, even placing an improvised splint on a victim’s broken arm. He then aided with transportation, moving the injured victims up the hill and out of the rain. Archer’s lifesaving actions directly contributed to the recovery of all nine passengers.

Archer currently serves with the U.S. Air Force’s 728th Air Mobility Squadron and is from Havelock, North Carolina. For his selfless a d lifesaving actions he was the USO’s Airman of the year for 2020.

He showed up to work in his uniform on the day he was supposed to walk across a stage.

Timothy Harrison was 18 years old. It was graduation day at Woodlawn High School. And instead of getting ready with his classmates, he clocked into his shift at the Waffle House in Center Point, Alabama, because the cap and gown pickup had passed him by, and he had no ride to the ceremony, and at some point he had quietly decided that today just wasn't going to be his day.

His manager, Cedric Hampton, saw him walk in and stopped.

Timothy had the day off. Why was he here?

When Cedric heard the answer, he made a decision in about three seconds: not on my watch.

What happened next, in a Waffle House in Alabama, was something you don't forget.

Staff scrambled to track down a cap and gown. Coworkers passed around cash, for a dress shirt, a tie, pants, shoes. Customers sitting at the counter overheard what was happening and reached into their wallets without being asked. Within a few hours, Timothy Harrison was standing in that restaurant fully dressed for graduation, looking like someone who had planned this all along.

A coworker drove him across town. They arrived just in time. Timothy took his seat with his graduating class.

He walked.

After the story spread, Lawson State Community College offered him a full scholarship, a future that hadn't existed that morning when he'd quietly given up on his own day.
