John Tudor had twice as many shutouts in 1985 as Max Scherzer has in his entire career. And he didn’t even win the Cy Young Award. Now get off my lawn, you peckerheads.
Sure, 4K is nice, but there was nothing like sitting two inches away from one of these sweet bastards while your mother predicted you’d be as blind as Ray Charles by the following Thursday.
Today is the day, June 3rd, 1973 that we lost Dory Funk, Sr to a fatal heart attack on his ranch the Flying Mare Ranch in Canyon, Texas. People often mention he is the father of two NWA World Heavyweight Champions, the only two brothers to hold the title. They often fail to mention. That Funk Sr was also an NWA World Champion, holding the very prestigious NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship and having strong programs with Danny Hodge, Hiro Matsuda and Angelo Savoldi. It was rare for a wrestler to hold the NWA World Junior Title who wasnt booked out of the Tulsa, Oklahoma office.
I say Babe Ruth would fucking rake today too. Motherfucker got off a train to swing a 9-pound bat at filthy dead-ass baseballs with guys throwing spitballs at his fucking head without a helmet while he was drunk. Pretty sure he could hit Zac Gallen.
Let’s all watch Touchdown Tony Dorsett do awesome things for a minute. Perhaps the least talked about elite running back of his era. That needs to change.
Jerry Lawler loses to Austin Idol (after Tommy Rich interferes) and gets his head shaved.
4/27/1987
@realpwoloss once said that 4/27/87 "is the day that, at least right now, I believe has more great matches than any single day in wrestling history."
I completely agree.
Minor note, this is 1983, but I guarantee you there were many of these fans in every city in the country then, and not one in the entire country today:
I am so honored and grateful to be included in this group of individuals being indicted in this year's 2026 Tragos-Thesz Hall of Fame Class! I hope you can make plans to join us in Waterloo in June to help celebrate with me! I'd absolutely love to see you there.

Out of all the favorite times I’ve had at all the #WrestleMania I was a part of, promoter and office alike, my favorite moment was in Seattle when #BrockLesnar took on @RealKurtAngle . Two amazing talents in the main event on the grandest stage of them all!
