@JmkKarim@ADNbarca10@8bdrssss don't you think Negreira would at some point demand a little bit more money from this club that makes a billion every year because he had leverage that could ruin them?
The first picture shows the start of a pressing sequence I've seen a lot of people discussing lately. But the issue here was actually very simple, and it was fixed immediately.
Let me explain what happened in the first picture and how Flick adjusted it in the second.
Flick's pressing structure in this game was essentially Rapha and Adeyemi leading the press on the CBs, Lamine and Cancelo pressing the fullbacks, Olmo and Pedri picking up Feyenoord's double pivot, Rodri covering their CAM, while Kounde stayed deeper to form a back three with Cubarsi and Christensen against their front three.
The problem in the first picture was that Feyenoord's CAM, who was supposed to be covered by Rodri, kept dropping deep and moving wide.
Rodri couldn't simply abandon his position as the DM and follow him everywhere, so the CAM was able to find space and become the free player in the build-up.
After that sequence, Flick made a very simple adjustment: Rodri was instructed to leave his position and follow the CAM wherever he went.
That's exactly what happened in the second picture, and Rodri actually ended up winning the ball back himself.
So yes, there was a pressing issue, but it was a very simple one that was identified and fixed immediately.
There was really no need for all the overreaction.
I'm seriously shocked by Espart's level at left-back. I genuinely thought this was just a desperate solution. I was ready to give him a free pass if he struggled, but he ended up playing the role like a natural left-back.
His understanding of the game is so impressive. He knew when to stay wide, when to move inside, when to support the buildup and when to adjust his position defensively. He didn't look like a player being forced to play left-back, he looked like a player who understood exactly what the position demanded.
Usually, that level of tactical intelligence comes with years of experience, so seeing it from a player his age is insane.
Espart definitely won Flick over, and I think he won the fans over with him.
Since plenty people are talking about Friday Night Lights and appreciating the acting
Zach Gilford in this episode is one of the best performances you will see on TV, and yes Kyle Chandler is also spectacular
