@FrSatishJoseph God is the God of life, so when anything societal fosters death, it is a form of sin and an offense against God. As such, sin is not just individual but social (or societal) and social causes of premature death (like those listed by the Father) are fundamentally anti-God.

@ABishopGustavo Many here suggest the AB as a pastoral figure should not be adding his voice to this subject and should stick to ecclesiastic topics. But God is the God of life, not death. Guns are used to take life, ergo, the AB's "pro-life" voice is very relevant.

@ABishopGustavo Nice to see an AB (or Bishop) realize they are the pastor of the community and not simply a bureaucrat of Rome. Ignore the requests for Latin Mass, that is a useless attempt at restoring some alleged sacredness. Focus on pastoral leadership of the people, starting with the poor.

@Jolz_Aust Why would anyone tell you to leave the Church? The Church is collectively the people of God, not rituals, hierarchies and laws that have no basis in the Bible and obedience to said laws. Suggesting one leave is comparable to telling someone to leave Jesus. No one owns it.

@Jolz_Aust Jolz, et al, read this book. Not only will clericalism be repudiated but the entire edifice of “hierarchology” on which the Church has been institutionalized. To be a Catholic, or any Christian, is not individualized or mere obedience. It is actively and collectively being.

@ABishopGustavo Thank you Archbishop for being a member of the clergy who has the courage to speak out. Sadly, guns, like money, has become yet another form of idolatry. The gun culture is rooted in the lack of love and empathy for one's neighbors and a desire to be "protected" from them.

@FrSatishJoseph The Father is right. One cannot claim to be "pro-life" yet ignore the lives lost due to gun violence, war and imperialism, poverty and hunger, and societal neglect. Unless these are also included, the alleged defenders of "life" are only shedding crocodile tears.
