A new bad argument pushed by Muslims has sprouted. They call it the Mustard Seed Dilemma, a desperate attempt to mirror the branding of the unresolved Islamic Dilemma they face.
They ask: "If Jesus is God, why did He say the mustard seed is the smallest seed when it's not?"
🧵
Quick update, the police have now left. However, this was by far the funniest part of the interaction.
I jokingly claimed my views on transgenderism are from radical Islamic fundamentalism.
Interesting.
Let's test these claims against Scripture.
"Call no man father."
Then why does Paul call himself a father?
"For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel." (1 Cor. 4:15)
Why does Stephen call the Jewish elders "fathers" in Acts 7:2?
Why does John speak of "fathers" in 1 John 2:13?
Either Jesus was banning the word itself, or He was condemning the prideful usurpation of God's authority. The apostles clearly understood it as the latter.
"Only Jesus can forgive sins."
Absolutely.
Catholics agree.
The question is whether Jesus can delegate authority.
In John 20:23, Jesus tells the apostles:
"Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them."
So either Jesus delegated a ministry of reconciliation, or He accidentally gave the apostles authority He didn't mean to give them.
"Praying to dead saints is necromancy."
Necromancy attempts to summon spirits for secret knowledge.
Asking glorified Christians to pray for you is no more necromancy than asking your pastor to pray for you.
Jesus says God is "not God of the dead, but of the living."
The saints are alive in Christ.
"Jesus is the only mediator."
Then stop asking anyone to pray for you.
Because if "one mediator" means no subordinate intercessors, every prayer chain in Protestantism is a violation of 1 Timothy 2:5.
Yet Paul commands Christians to intercede for one another immediately before saying Christ is the one mediator.
Clearly he doesn't mean "nobody else can participate."
"Pray to the Father in Jesus' name."
Catholics do.
Constantly.
Every Mass is directed to God.
The irony is that most of these arguments only work if you ignore the verses Catholics use and assume your conclusion from the start.
The real question isn't whether Catholics follow Scripture.
The real question is whether Scripture is allowed to mean what it actually says when it disagrees with modern Protestant assumptions.

Amazing how literally everyone had to carry around little pads of paper and do math all day to make sure they didn’t accidentally eat too many “calories”
The brutal truth is that our entire system relies on abortion
You can’t keep women in the work force without abortion
You can’t maintain the casual sex culture and disrupt family formation without abortion
Women with children find themselves dependent on men, single women find themselves dependent on the state
Women are more likely to take abuse from employers, less likely to demand raises, less likely to oppose their replacement
People have been conditioned to believe they couldn’t function in society without abortion, and at some level we’ve ensured that’s correct
We’re far from the first civilization to base itself on child sacrifice but don’t lie to yourself, that’s exactly what we’ve done
You can look back on the Mayans in horror because they did their sacrifices on an altar but they could never hope to match our level of slaughter
Until the paradigm shifts there will be no popular support for it’s restriction
Oh look, it's the iron law of leftoid projection again.
Meanwhile, in reality, Children in traditional families are multiple times less likely to suffer abuse. ( Single Parent Vs Nuclear Family: Children’s Behavior Comparison. (2022, February 21). Edubirdie. )
Mikale is doing the classic low-information Protestant internet move: confidently mocking an argument no Catholic actually made, then congratulating himself for refuting it.
No Catholic thinks Gabriel was “worshipping Mary.” We know the difference between worship and honor better than most modern evangelicals know the difference between a sermon series and apostolic Christianity.
The point was simple: the first words of the Hail Mary come straight from Scripture. “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.” “Blessed art thou among women.”
That’s Bible. Literally Luke 1.
So instead of engaging the actual claim, he invents a cartoon version of Catholic belief, dunks on his own invention, then lectures others about not reading Scripture.
That’s not exegesis. That’s shadowboxing.
And the irony is rich: Catholics gave the world the canon of Scripture, preserved it, copied it, preached it, and still read the very Gospel he’s misreading today.
The loudest people online are often the least catechized. This thread is exhibit A.
Some said she was violent
Some said she was the aggressor
Some said she was in the wrong
Turns out the supposedly innocent migrant man had tried to sexually assault a little girl and she was defending herself
So many apologies need to happen
This was something that helped push me to Catholicism, ultimately Scripture was what made me convert but these things just can’t be ignored.
God’s Church elevates culture
Every other religion erases and corrupts it
1. Everything Jesus said and did was a revelation of God.
2. Not everything he said and did was recorded in Scripture. John 21:25
3. Therefore there is revelation outside of scripture.
The words of St. Patrick himself as recorded in the Book Armagh say differently.
"Aeclessia Scottorum immo Romanorum, ut Christiani ita et Romani sitis..."
"The Church of the Irish, or indeed of the Romans, for as you be Christians so too be Romans..."
