Democratizing art from Austin: local artists meet blue-chip masters.

The truth is all the sciences were born of philosophy, which as a word literally means “love of wisdom”. That is because science uses knowledge to accumulate wisdom.
If you are unfamiliar with the pre-Socratic philosophers, I would highly recommend a reading of some of their works from 2500 years ago. They were eons ahead of their time and only now are some of their most pertinent points becoming relevant again.
I would particularly encourage one to pay close attention to how scientific questions were formulated in such a lyrical, elegant, and beautiful- dare I say it - poetic way. For, often times, these scientists and philosophers also were poets, and they presented their rationalized hypotheses in the form of poetry.
Afterwards, if you would like to move beyond the culturally-reinforced, and subject-matter hierarchically formulated chauvinism which characterizes so much of the public discourse these days, then, please, by all means familiarize yourself with Lucretius, who presented atomic theory 2000 years ago as epic poetry.
The reason for this juxtaposition of poetry and science in epic meter was because the scientist also was recognized as a hero. A champion. An athletic victor. For the scientist also liberates humanity from doubts. limitations, and ignorance. Through the accumulation of knowledge and a profound love for wisdom.
All scientists and engineers, they are but poets and artists of a different type, and all poets and artists are but the builders and engineers of creations and worlds before unseen. And @elonmusk might be the greatest artist of all time. Think DaVinci⚡️💥✨

LFG!
The greatest engineering feat of all time
is ready to show us again what it is made of.
What power.
What beauty.
What grit, guts, and grace!
What fortitude!
Starship will do more for humanity
in the discovery and exploration
of the enigmatic frontier of space,
including the Moon and Mars,
And for human commerce, trade, arts, and industry,
than the greatest railroads combined
ever did for the wild American west.
Since this time the frontier to explore
is much more vast and differentiated,
Our means for journeying is more dynamic,
and there is so much more return on investment!
Thank you SpaceX!
Thank you for never giving up on the Mission!🔥❤️🚀✨🙏🏻

From the Kalos Agathos Legacy Collection, an unpublished work by Donal Hord. The Hord exhibition includes rare, never before seen photos, letters, and memorabilia associated with this world renowned sculptor and his assistant Dana Homer.
Donal Hord (1902–1966, born Donald Albert Horr) was an American sculptor known for his large-scale works in stone and wood, often with influences from Mexican, Native American, and pre-Columbian art. He worked primarily in San Diego, California, and gained prominence through the Federal Art Project (WPA) during the 1930s.
Key Highlights of His Career
Famous public pieces include:
Guardian of Water (1939) — a monumental fountain sculpture still standing in front of the San Diego County Administration Building.
Aztec (1937) — located on the campus of San Diego State University.
Legend of California — a series of seven limestone panels for Coronado High School.
He received two Guggenheim Fellowships (1945 and 1947), which supported his work.
Hord’s style often featured strong, stylized human figures and themes drawn from indigenous cultures and nature. He carved directly in hard materials like diorite, wood, and limestone, emphasizing texture and monumental scale.
He is considered one of the notable West Coast sculptors of the mid-20th century, with works in public collections and some private sales of smaller pieces or studies.
That sounds like a 4000 year old religious text, maybe a piece of Vedic literature.
Hey whatever happened to the modern, egotistical, chauvinistic idea that history is linear and teleological?
And that all progress is forward.
Sometimes the past is further ahead than the future. ✨

More than 50 years ago, before MAHA, Whole Foods, “organic”, “free range”, and “locally grown” became a regular part of the public discourse, Bruce Hopping and the Kalos Kagathos Foundation were funding junior high school students to conduct scientific research and analysis on the food being served in various Orange County fast food restaurants.
The goal was to raise public awareness and encourage people to adopt a more healthy lifestyle and diet.
Or to Make America Healthy❤️
