Last night I slept with four different wearables - the new Fitbit Air from Google, the WHOOP MG, Oura Ring v4, and the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
I'm going to be testing all four, side-by-side for the next month to figure out which is the best at sleep tracking.
Sleep tracking is what matters to me the most because I think sleep is the most important thing to prioritize if you want to have a healthy, long, life. It effects everything from cognition to immune defense, mood, etc.
Here's the data from all four, and a few thoughts of mine on each:
Apple Watch Ultra 2 (using AutoSleep) - says that I got 8 hours and 4 minutes of sleep with an 100% sleep rating. While I wish this was true, it's not, I woke up for around half-an-hour at like 3am, the Apple Watch never seems to pick this up.
Google Fitbit Air - shows even more sleep that the Apple Watch but did catch the time I was awake. Shows an hour and twenty three minutes of deep sleep which would be low, I really aim for 2+ hours of deep sleep a night, and I know how I feel when I get less than this.
Oura - shows I got 7 hours and 13 minutes of sleep, which I think is a bit low, but closer than the Apple Watch or FitBit. Where I've found Oura always struggles is getting sleep stages like REM and Deep sleep right. If I only got 58 minutes of REM I'd be a zombie today, but that's not the case, I think it's pretty inaccurate here, and deep is also off probably by about an hour.
WHOOP - the most accurate imo. Shows 7 hours and 23 minutes of sleep which seems spot on, and to be fair, Oura and WHOOP pretty much agreed here. But where WHOOP really excels is at accurately detecting sleep stages, and picking up when I wake up at night. It's showing 2 hours and 36 minutes of deep sleep and 2 hours of REM, which is what my body feels like I got because I feel very rested. It also picked up the time I was awake last night very accurately.
So for day one of the comparison - WHOOP wins on accuracy 🎯
(Note: I got the Fitbit Air three days ago, it needs a week to calibrate, so I am taking these readings with a grain of salt for now)

You ship Claude your coding agent never reads, pay for every token of it, and the noise quietly makes the output worse.
Everyone's busy optimizing the model, almost nobody's optimizing what they send it.

Starlink V3 satellites have >10X bandwidth of V2 and there’ll be >10X launched, which means >100X more bandwidth.
Also, altitude will be 350km vs 550km, so min latency can be cut in half.
Light travels 300km/ms in space, so physics round trip min latency drops to <5ms.
