Tropical Storm #Chido in Madagascar has intensified to a Category 3 Tropical Cyclone and is expected to begin impacting Madagascar's coastal and mainland regions in the coming days. It is also likely to affect Mozambique, another country highly prone to disasters.

Our IFRC network teams are on high alert. Teams from @CruzVermelhaMOZ are closely monitoring the situation while volunteers from @MadaRedCross are working with local communities, raising awareness about preparedness in anticipation of Tropical Storm #Chido.

Both Madagascar and Mozambique have endured harmful cyclone seasons over the past years. Early Warning and Anticipatory Action are essential to the work of our teams, helping communities prevent and reduce disaster impacts.

Today, we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions, a cornerstone of international humanitarian law that has provided protection and dignity to millions affected by armed conflict.

As we mark this milestone, we reaffirm our support to the @ICRC, for their unwavering dedication to upholding the principles of these Conventions.

Yet, our work is far from over. In a world where conflicts continue to cause immense suffering, the Geneva Conventions are more relevant than ever. They remind us of our shared humanity and our collective responsibility to safeguard the dignity and rights of all people, even in the darkest of times.
