Faithfully LGBTQ: a local youth discipleship leader shared his story of how coming to terms with his sexuality brought him closer to God and how he’s using his experiences to help others find a place in a community of faith. The second in a two-part series by @ReporterDawn
There is so much that could be said about last night's city council meeting, but one question I'm left with is: Does Al care about anything else other than the Blvd? Anything? You'd think that's the only issue facing our city by the way he talks about it.
@g_l_johnson You're not gonna bait me into an argument. I did read the article. The parts about transgender women having an advantage in women's sports has never been proven. The examples given are anecdotal. I hope you can find some empathy somewhere for this vulnerable people group.
I have some thoughts on the Acorn editorial. I understand that editorials are opinion pieces, but why would someone use it to punch down on a group of people who are already so vulnerable? Why not talk about supervisors changing campaign finance laws, or the oil & gas industry...
@g_l_johnson Assuming you're asking in good faith (which I seriously doubt) here are some statistics about suicide & self harm rates with trans people.
...getting away with harming vulnerable people in our community? I get that free speech is important, but all this editorial does is provide inaccurate information & stir up even more hatred toward beloved members of our community. I won't stand for it. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Finally getting a chance to look at next week's City Council agenda... Thousand Oaks is having to consider moving from at-large Council elections to district-based elections. The council will only hear a presentation regarding the issue on Tuesday. 1/
They auctioned off a brunch with firefighters to raise money for charity. As a firefighter’s kid, I think it’s hilarious people would pay money for that. Growing up, that was just a regular Saturday. Or Thanksgiving. Or Christmas.
Today on @TheView, Whoopi Goldberg said it was young peoples' faults that we don't have many Millennial or Gen Z elected officials. Such a horrible take! We run for office, but more often than not the political establishment does whatever they can to block us from getting elected
