@TeachButler Teams is very clunkyโฆ it is an app designed for companies, which has some add-ons to convert it to suit education. It does a job but be prepared to be very frustrated at times. I thought GC was great but we moved to Teams.
@Mr_McCarthy_CS ๐ enjoy it. Be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions mixed with hard work and fun times. 2 pieces of advice (should you choose to accept them): be kind to yourself (there is only so much you can do); be / fake confidence in the classroom (it is your domain what you say goes)
@1jorobson @MrAHarrisonCS @craigndave1 @1jorobson I genuinely believe the CS teachers I have met / interacted with are passionate and determined to give our students the best experience of CS they can. I feel the rug was pulled from underneath them in this instance.
@MrAHarrisonCS @1jorobson @craigndave1 I feel this paper2 was rather dissembling compared to the papers (prepared and published by the exam board) that should have given students a fair chance at preparing for the actual paper. Do you not use past papers as one of your strategies for preparing for the exam? ๐ค
@MrAHarrisonCS @1jorobson @craigndave1 SmartRevise is such a great resource. We teach alevel and subject knowledge is constantly worked on. As you say, it is vital. Depending on this years outcomes, may have to raise GCSE Eng requirement to a predicted 7+ if this paper 2 is indicative of paper 2s to come.
@MrAHarrisonCS @1jorobson Reading is a skill I am still trying to improve. As your blog states, many cs teachers are not adequately equipped to deliver the subject. I wrongly believed if my top students ans ALevel Alg qus. They would be prepared. Not so this time. What strategies did u use 2 prepare urs?
@MrAHarrisonCS @1jorobson Does it state how many of your current students you think will gain top grades? You seem to be intimating that those who find Verbose, challenging text should be happy they can answer the easy questions? I want everyone to be able to attain the best grade they can, not excluded.
@MrAHarrisonCS @1jorobson I agree to a certain extent, however it reads as if all the other paper 2s in the past were easy? How many of your current cohort do you think will get a 7 or above? I have incredible programmers who find deciphering lots of text challenging.Completed past A level questions easy.
@misspidgley @MrTs_NQTs Hope you get a response from expert. My non-specialist advice: have one very specific learning objective. Clear instructions, activity directly linked to LO, check for understanding throughout. 30 minutes is not long. Show your personality+relationship building. Wow not needed.
@MissSaleemECT@MrTs_NQTs Interviews were never my strong pointโฆ when I knew I had an interview I would purposefully repeat to myself as much as possible that โI was really good at interviewsโ especially whenever the thought or words Iโm not very good at themโ came into my head. Still do it now.May help?
@TTeacher50 I use the zip fit (I think thatโs what they are called) plastics wallets. Mwbs, pens and wipes. Enough for each child in that area. I have room to leave 1 pack at end of each table. Hope this is of some help.
@MrWorgan_SCITT@MrTs_NQTs I would ask this: What does a normal day look like for a teacher at this school? I.e what time do they start, what do they do through the day, duties in and after school, how long for lunch, a normal leaving time.
@learn_to_bee@MrTs_NQTs If the feedback is clear instructions then you can use bullet points, to keep to the point and then check to make sure the students understand them.If the feedback is vary pace then you need a new mentor!or ask them to break that down into specific actions you can try.they wonโt.
@missowens_k@MrTs_NQTs Agree. Go to them with something positive, maybe break it down for themโฆ ie 1st target - develop a routine for calm entry and start of lesson.
