This was my third time going supersonic in a fighter jet, and my first time breaking Mach 2.

Flying more than 1,500 mph at 21,000 feet is hard to describe. The acceleration is what really gets you. One moment you’re cruising, and seconds later you’re traveling at twice the speed of sound.

Powering us there were two General Electric F110-129 afterburning engines producing a combined 59,000 pounds of thrust. The sheer force pushing you back into the seat is unforgettable.

I’ve been told the F-15EX is the closest thing to experiencing what it’s like to fly an F-22 Raptor. If that’s true, I can live with never flying the Raptor, because this was one hell of a ride.
