Gov Reynolds turned down $30 million in funding for the summer food program for Iowa kids, but she signed off on using $14.6 million + $18.7 million in federal funds (ARPA) to fix up this parking lot and office by the Capitol and office space on Park Ave.
Dear @IAGovernor, some feedback from a Superintendent in the other 210, or so, districts not represented in the conversations: special education as a fee for service is a non-starter. And, with this seemingly newfound trust in districts & care for spec. education students: 5% SSA
@SenClaireCelsi At a time when the DE gave no guidance to schools on the implementation of the book ban. Their justification was “the law was clear”, so subjective decision-making is in order.
ICYMI: This was the 2023 Republican agenda: private-school vouchers, books bans, denying food to hungry kids, weakening child labor protections, and attacking LGBTQ Iowans.
This session will go down in history as one of the most divisive and cruel ever seen in Iowa. #ialegis

@Clay_Masters@tjbarton83@IowaCapDispatch In 2018 the legislature required that absentee envelopes are prepared to identify when the return ballot hit the post office, in an effort to determine legally mailed returns. Then last session, 2021, the legislature changed the law again…..voter suppression for sure.
