i get why people are excited about this district-to-district "anti-corruption" reality tv show balaam and the entire cast are on

showin' up unannounced, suspendin' officials, makin' arrests, and exposin' abuse of office and misuse of public funds sounds fun

but it does not and will not solve the underlyin' problems in civil service

by the time the cast reaches district #15, district #1 will have reset to factory settings, and district #30 will have formed abakenuzi kwagalana group to sanitize their corruption and stick together

corruption doesn't disappear because a few people are bein' arrested and indicted

it simply waits for the spotlight to move elsewhere

there are probably people right now polishin' their cvs and lobbyin' for the very offices whose occupants were just marched out

they're not worried because they think they're smarter than the show cast

they're bettin' on somethin' much simpler

that after season one, there won't be a season two

that the convoys won't keep comin' back every few months

that eventually everyone will move on to the next headline

and honestly, that's a safe bet if nothin' else changes

the only way to fight corruption is by makin' it difficult, expensive, and easy to detect

build systems that leave footprints, digitize everyday processes

make every shillin' traceable and audit automatically instead of occasionally

make it harder to steal than it is to do the job properly

because no minister can personally supervise every district in uganda for the next 5 years

if your anti-corruption strategy only works when a minister's convoy is parked outside your office, then you don't have a system

‼️ The officers who abducted Besigye — and a witness lined up to testify against him — have themselves been detained over the fabrication of intelligence, and now face the Court Martial.

📌 Former Chief of Military Intelligence (CMI) Major General James Birungi — one of the witnesses Museveni and Muhoozi intend to line up against Besigye — together with two of the officers who abducted @kizzabesigye1 and Hajji Obeid Lutale from Nairobi on 16 November 2024, were arrested and detained at Makindye Military Police Prison on Friday, 29 August 2025.

📌 Gen. Birungi was detained alongside two of his close deputies and former staff: Colonel Peter Ahimbisibwe (then Director of Counter-Terrorism) and Lieutenant Colonel Ephraim Byaruhanga (Director of Special Operations).

📌 The trio now face trial before the General Court Martial on grave charges — treason, corruption, terrorism and murder.

📌 Their detention stemmed from a high-level probe led by Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding, which is said to have uncovered widespread internal misconduct within Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) intelligence operations.

📌 They are accused of fabricating terror alerts and falsifying intelligence briefings, including deliberately manipulated threat reports. Among these was a 2023 episode in which they falsely confirmed the death of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) bomb-maker Meddie Nkalubo in an airstrike — when he was in fact alive and still active.

📌 They are further accused of misusing resources: an audit is said to have revealed deep-rooted financial irregularities and the misappropriation of military funds.

📌 The irony is unmissable. Two of these men — Colonel Ahimbisibwe and Lieutenant Colonel Byaruhanga — are the very 2nd and 3rd Respondents Besigye and Lutale have already sued in Miscellaneous Application No. 0227 of 2026, before the High Court of Uganda (Criminal Division), alongside Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to challenge their abduction, the abuse of power, and Muhoozi’s public death threats against Besigye.

📌 That application asks the Court to confront what the Constitution does not permit: the abduction of two civilians from Nairobi, their incommunicado detention in a military barracks not gazetted to hold civilians, the denial of access to lawyers, family and doctors, and a pattern of public threats to their lives as they face capital charges.

📌 Besigye and Lutale ask the Court to declare these violations, nullify the tainted proceedings, and order their unconditional release.

📌 The rule of law is not a favour the State grants. It is a duty the Constitution imposes.

This was brought to my attention. Scammers using photo and name and my interview on the @AgoraCFR podcast to scam people. Please treat it with the contempt it deserves and whoever can help me reach as many possible as possible, so that they are not scammed, will be highly appreciated. An acquaintance from a while back wanted to use it for their trading business so I imagine there are people who are not able to reach out to me to verify and are falling for that scam.
