@TheAbojani It depends. If I had saved KES.230k specifically to buy iPhone 17 pro, then I go to the shop and find out that they have an offer, KES.185k, I'd have actually saved the KES.45k. If I had no plan to buy the phone yes, your statement would be correct.
@kahome_steve It also depends on someone's financial muscles. There's someone who owns a home and still has the IFBs etc. So I don't think there's a right or wrong choice - depends on someone's financial goals.
@kahome_steve "Rental income isn't the best source of passive income". Why? Returns? T-bonds unless laddering, you won't be assured of monthly income. Rental as long as you have a tenant, there's income coming. Also good for long term. Can be passed to children or relatives. Diversification.
@black_lgm If someone invests in stocks long term, assuming the stocks are mainly growth ones(hence neglible or no dividends), the only way of living off the stocks in teh future is by selling, right?
@cheruiyotkb When it comes to buying stocks monthly, what if the stock price keeps rising? Couldn’t that increase the risk of purchasing a stock at an inflated price? Thought is good to buy when the price drops, as that helps lower the average cost, although this approach has some risk.
@black_lgm What's the motivation behind $SCHD? Dividends? I got discouraged by the 30% withholding tax coz I'm not a US citizen. Do you have USA citizenship?
@cheruiyotkb The approach of buying stocks and holding them for the long term does carry some risks. Even if the stock's value increases over time, there’s a chance it could become challenging to find a buyer in 10+ years, especially if the stock becomes very expensive. T/F? (I like stocks)
