Lighting up homes is only part of the story. Building trust at the last mile is what makes the transition last.

The Vidyut Sakhi programme is a collaboration between the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (@Prerna_UPSRLM), Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (@UPPCLLKO), and @ICICIBank (Technology Partner). Vidyut Sakhis are helping address one of the weakest links in rural electricity systems: last-mile consumer engagement. By supporting bill collection, improving awareness of electricity services, facilitating new connections, and building trust between DISCOMs and consumers, they are improving service delivery while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women.

The policy brief outlines how the model can be strengthened and scaled through closer partnerships between DISCOMs and SRLMs, stronger capacity-building, digital tools, performance-linked incentives, and institutional support—offering a pathway to improve both rural electricity governance and women’s economic empowerment.

As states continue to expand reliable electricity access, the Vidyut Sakhi model demonstrates that people-centred institutions can be just as important as infrastructure in delivering lasting impact.

The Regional Fodder Station, Srinagar, organised a Farmers' Fair and Training Programme at Wangath Naranag, Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Division of Silviculture & Agroforestry, Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K. The programme focused on promoting improved fodder production practices and scientific fodder cultivation to enhance livestock productivity.

As part of the initiative, 50 progressive farmers were provided with fodder seed demonstration kits to encourage the adoption of improved fodder varieties and strengthen sustainable livestock farming.

TERI presented the findings of its landmark study, the ‘Comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Sugarcane-based Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for India’, at an @IndiaIsma-convened roundtable in New Delhi. Commissioned by ISMA and executed by TERI, this first-of-its-kind study establishes a rigorous, India-specific LCA framework. By leveraging data from nationwide sugar mills, the study provides a robust, scientific basis for assessing greenhouse gas emissions across India’s ethanol-to-jet pathway, aligning domestic production with ICAO’s CORSIA framework.
Bringing together policymakers, airlines, and tech providers, this collaborative breakthrough delivers the data needed to anchor a globally competitive SAF ecosystem and drive the evidence-based transition required to meet India’s SAF blending targets of 1 per cent by 2027, 2 per cent by 2028, and 5 per cent by 2030.
