Cooler than average days this summer have just completely died out, even in our hottest summers we do get odd day here and there interspersed. We are coming up 2 months since last daily max temperature was 1C below average in London on already warmer baseline. Freakishly warm period surely it can’t sustain indefinitely.

Provisionally July 2026 was the warmest ever recorded with temperatures a remarkable 3.5°C above the long term average 🥵 📈

This follows on from record breaking temperatures in both May & June.

Fittingly July ends how it started an exceptionally sunny month with historic warmth and also dryness.

We’ve been transported to SoCal, upper echelon summer month.

The raw figures even uncorrected make it sunniest month on record (1957-present) at LHR with ~328 hours of sunshine factoring also today.

This is even sunnier than May 2020, it obliterates former July 1959 record by over 50 hours.
