Inspired by hearing about experiences of emergency evacuations associated with building safety issues, we have worked with @TowerBlocksUK to co-produce a checklist of questions and examples from practice
Today we remember the 72 men, women and children taken from us at Grenfell Tower 7 years ago.
With time, those responsible hope we will all forget. Join us this evening at the Notting Hill Methodist Church at 6pm to show them we won’t 💚
Dear @Barrattplc
The residents of Royal Artillery Quays want ALL the flammable material off our buildings and an EWS1 A1 rating.
We do not want your proposed B1 rating and permanently high insurance.

1/6 Leasehold and Freehold Reform Bill
Final list of amendments for Report published: https://t.co/sfbgpGkw0n
Bill expected to be considering in the Lords after various Private Members Bills and statutory instruments currently being debated, no fixed time at the moment.
👀 List of Tories supporting one of the key amendments to water down the Renters Reform Bill. What does the (R) by names mean? Registered interests. Looks like landlords turning out in force to scupper a bill that was meant to protect renters' interests, not their own finances
Very disappointing update from the Grenfell Tower Inquiry, revealing a further delay to the publication of the Phase Two report. It will not be ready before the 7th anniversary and no new date has been given for its publication

"Recommendations that full design compliance with building regulations should be appropriately demonstrated before construction begins is just too big a step for the industry to make at present"
Hmm...

1/11 Why still £30 billion if gov’t figures show average ground rent of £278 and there is a 20 year transitional period of £250 to peppercorn?
£30 billion was the figure for immediate conversion to peppercorn.
Questionable maths.
@EOCS_Official@PeteApps There are 6 over 11m buildings with ACM cladding in our development.
❌ No remediation plan in place
❌ Barratt has yet to carry out their *initial* intrusive survey
❌ E&M & Barratt have yet to agree on legal terms
At least 2 earlier surveys concluded the ACM had to go.
I’ve been looking at why so many people in flats with dangerous cladding are facing long waits, drawn-out legal battles and in some cases still potentially ruinous bills, despite the Building Safety Act which is meant to protect them: https://t.co/8o1BePkgBp
CMA v RFA - Ground Rent
CMA - says ground rent is neither legally nor commercially necessary, & there is no evidence that consumers receive anything in return.
RFA - says any changes without freehold compensation would result in legal action https://t.co/nQik8qWMUd
We need an urgent statement from @michaelgove & @luhc on how leaseholders who leave a flat empty for 12 months due to #cladding works & loss of light due to scaffolding will be treated.
No one wants to rent such a flat. Imprisoning leaseholders in such conditions is inhumane.
Combustible cladding has always been a global problem. Here is a clip from our Grenfell Inquiry coverage where Arconic discuss selling the same cladding used on Grenfell in Spain:

Hi @marklowen just listened to your coverage of the terrible Valencia fire.
I wish it was true that dangerous cladding was being 'systematically removed' from buildings in the UK.
The reality is quite different.
Please check with @EOCS_Official@insidehousing@PeteApps

This is my son’s block of flat. Please re-post.
A fire guard costing residents £500,000 has been accused of “hiding” in a cupboard while on duty after being brought in to safeguard a block of flats.

Govt warns insurers, but instead of implementing the only viable solution, a govt backed scheme which costs peanuts, @michaelgove & @Lee4NED just ask the insurers to come up with a solution!
Hey we know you're making a killing out of this, are you able to tone it down a little🙏?
The government's BSA is creating even more costs & hardship for leaseholders trapped in the #BuildingSafetyCrisis
Conveyancer asking for £2000 non refundable upfront fee for all sales on properties over 11 mtrs
@CAtradebody apparently 90% of firms are refusing to take work on?!
More than half of the buildings developed by Grenfell firm Rydon have been found to have “life-critical” fire safety issues.
Me for the @guardian👇

What’s it like to be told your home is so unsafe - that living there is illegal?
More than 9,600 have suffered just that since Grenfell, and experts fear the numbers of buildings being forcibly evacuated for fire or structural issues will only keep rising https://t.co/PChX8A1vYc
