@jonburkeUK It was your refusal to acknowledge in any way that the Streatham LTN did not work and ruined public transport that is frustrating. I acknowledge the data with regards to crime, but I don’t think the fear that women have walking down a quiet street should be dismissed.

@jonburkeUK The crime data is very high level and I would be interested in seeing it in more detail to look at the exact type of crime, and if statistically a specific crime is more likely. Ironically it also causes more women to take a taxi to avoid walking on a quiet street.

@jonburkeUK You clearly don’t know the area. The LTN completely gridlocked it and stopped the bus service. Yes it is busy now but the bus service can work again. Should we be looking at ways to reduce traffic? Absolutely yes. But the previous LTN was not the answer.

@tkarlo @busbf11 You literally just suggested closing the high road to private cars. That’s the only road they can go on in Streatham following the LTNs. So if you close that as well you are closing all roads. What is the practical solution to solve the current chaos?

@tkarlo @busbf11 The council took no proper data of (non bus) traffic on boundary roads prior to LTN implementation. Likely because they knew it would show extensive increase on some roads. So we’re told to use data, but there is no data. We therefore have to use resident feedback.

@tkarlo @busbf11 The Streatham LTNs have broken the bus network in Streatham. This surely cannot be the outcome you desire.i hear so little talk about improving public transport.all focus is on closing roads to cars and making space for cyclists.

@tkarlo @busbf11 I’m absolutely not arguing that everyone should be less safe.I support reducing traffic.I walk or get public transport.But I don’t support LTNs.They leave some roads empty,which makes some feel less safe&also pile traffic& pollution on other roads,destroying public transport.

@CTWhite80 @indieHackney @busbf11 I haven’t disputed overall data and I have been monitoring for my area which has remained static. My point is that it does feel less safe at night, and if something were to happen there is no one else about. It’s not nice to feel less safe walking to your own house.

@jonburkeUK I’ve been monitoring figures in my area and it’s remained steady. Statistically you may be right. But I feel less safe because if something were to happen to me there are no cars to flag down for help. You’ve probably never had to think about this, but women do.
