Pictured below are portraits of Daniel Lambert, who was once considered the heaviest person in human history. At the age of 18, Lambert started his career as a prison guard, earning respect for his ability to befriend and assist in the rehabilitation of many prisoners.
He was known for remarkable feats, such as walking 7 miles (11 km) from Woolwich to the City of London, displaying less fatigue than several average-sized men in his company. Lambert's strength allowed him to easily carry 560 lbs. (254 kg) and even stand on one leg.
In 1805, Lambert decided to put himself on public exhibition, charging a shilling for people to visit him at his home on 53 Piccadilly. He dedicated five hours a day to conversing with nearly 400 daily visitors on a range of topics, particularly related to dogs and sports.
Lambert implemented a rule requiring all visitors to remove their hats upon entering his home. When one guest reportedly refused to do so, Lambert responded with gentleness, saying, "Then, by God, Sir, you must instantly leave this room, as I do not consider it a mark of respect owed to myself, but to the ladies and gentlemen who honor me with their company."
In a sudden turn of events, Lambert passed away in 1809 at the age of 39. His coffin was so large that it required the strength of 20 men to move. At the time of his death, he weighed 335 kg (739 lb).
#ClimateAction is being undermined.
There is a lack of ambition.
A lack of trust.
A lack of support.
A lack of cooperation.
And an abundance of problems around clarity and credibility.
It’s time to wake up and step up.
I know for a fact I wouldn’t get on with one of the protesters at aintree today and would hate sitting for a pint with them but can’t stand horse racing community spouting the we love horses and all that. You like the cash that they can bring in and very little else.
