There is only right now.
Remember the past, plan for the future, but live for today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come.

$IBM losing $27 billion in market cap in one session because a language model can now read COBOL is the clearest signal yet of what this AI cycle actually is.
It is not about efficiency. It is about which companies built their moat around friction rather than value. That distinction is getting priced out in real time.
As the new year begins, a reminder of what really matters:

I don't know who needs to hear this, but changing who pays your medical bill does not change the amount on the bill.
The problem has never been insurance companies. The problem is how much providers are CHARGING the insurance companies. Nobody is talking about this. Insurance is expensive because CARE is expensive.
Moreover, have you ever experienced ANY company that makes as many billing "mistakes" as care providers? Double and triple billings, line items that have nothing to do with your visit, bills sent to both the patient and the insurance company, etc. When you actually look at your medical bills, it's never right. And when you call them out on it, the answer is always the same. "Whoops, sorry about that, billing mistake. We'll get this corrected."
No accountability whatsoever.
Do you know why insurance companies have so many people on staff scrutinizing every bill? Do you know why insurance companies will flat out DENY a claim that you KNOW should be covered?
Because they HAVE TO. That's how crooked medical billing is. They receive so much phantom and junk billing from providers they have to spend millions of dollars on people whose sole job is to scrutinize every bill.
It's so bad they sometimes have to use DENIAL as a weapon against it. These denials are rarely permanent; it's a tool insurance companies use to force the care provider to provide supporting documentation, and usually only used when they've had a problem with that particular provider or reason to suspect they're recommending prescriptions/procedures that aren't necessary.
All of the problems with American healthcare are at the provider level. This is 100% a provider problem. And it's the one place nobody is looking.
We will never fix healthcare by attacking the cost of insurance.
