NO @UKLabour@Keir_Starmer...
... THIS is the grey belt!!!!
Virtually every town in this country has tonnes of space for housing. Right in the town centre! Completely wasted surface car park space. Grrrr
And against this backdrop we have Government trying to build all over farmland, and smart alek's trying to take 45,000 acres of best & most versatile farmland in Suffolk/Cambs out of food production by trying to concrete over it with a 'forest city'.

Many MPs urged gov't to include rent controls in Renters Rights Bill last week (see https://t.co/mAYHtrtjM6)
But @mtpennycook & @AngelaRayner argued rent controls wld reduce supply of homes
Short🧵w/ data to show this risk is small & can be mitigated, and benefits outweigh costs
Supply won't end London's housing crisis say @centreforlondon
'homes are increasingly owned by fewer people in ways that don't help ordinary Londoners - renting them expensively, leaving them empty and selling at prices most can't afford'

On Sandhurst Road the bit of the pavement to the left of the white dotted line is for cars, and the bit to the right of it is for cars. And the road is for cars.
Do you think that you could perhaps slice off a bit for pedestrians @LouiseKrupski and @Brenda_Dacres?
'“We are told we can build our way out of a housing and homelessness crisis but it seems our housing market is flooded with empty homes” said Chris Bailey, Director of policy and campaigns at @emptyhomes '
More long-term empties than during the pandemic??!

@SarahWoodberryD Could we get a concrete update on making Dalston a LIVEABLE neighbourhood for families?
The worst way to subside transport decarbonisation is to subsidise cars. Even if they're EVs.
Subsidise public transport. Offer concessionary fares for the people on low incomes, older people and younger people who are less likely to own a car.

My rant about lack of cycle infrastructure on Green Lanes has been printed in an actual NEWSPAPER 🎉🥳📰🗞️
It’s a half page comment piece in the Ham and High, out now.
The online version is also the most read story of the week. Cycling issues matter! 🚲🚲 You might … 1/9
@thomasforth@justspace7 Right To Buy.
Total lack of housing strategy generally.
No industrial strategy.
No devolution. Apart from 🏴🏴
Failure to put local gov on sustainable financial footing...
Privatisation of water & trains etc
The list is pretty endless .. 😵💫
@thomasforth The first line of the actual piece is even better:
"One of the biggest policy failures of the past 50 years is the deregulation of England’s buses outside London, imposed by the Transport Act 1985"
He's right. It was an environmental, social and financial disaster
