@HavenWinter77@Bound_By_Love@philvischer That is a handy pneumonic, but I love explaining to kids (my students, for ex.) ante- and post- and meridian for that matter.
@philvischer Phil, as a teacher and purveyor of, you know, humor and stuff, I find this hilarious. So, bravo. And to everyone who’s trying to inform him of hotel protocol or make him aware of possible misunderstandings or misinterpretations or whatever… please let the man make a joke. 🤦🏻♂️
@MSGliteracy Rule number one: Always begin setting up your classroom at least a month in advance. 🤦🏻♂️ Sorry. I felt compelled to be a wise guy. Good luck!
Twitter has been going on for over 2000 years. Just look at this verse in the Bible:
The assembly was in confusion: Some were shouting one thing, some another. Most of the people did not even know why they were there.
-Acts 19:32
Especially for new secondary teachers: Maintaining your own spark of fascination with your content is so critical. When students sense that you are genuinely intrigued with what you are teaching, it invites them into that possibility, even if you teach a subject they don’t love.
When kids cheat on assignments it is because they have been taught that grades outweigh the importance of knowing things. We need to fix this.

Just curious:
Teachers, please RT this if you teach your students about things and topics that are NOT in the curriculum or the textbook you use because you know it’s very important that they learn it.
I live the golden rule retroactively — doing unto others what I wish had been done for me. Thank God, I (just barely) survived long enough to turn the corner, grow up, and answer the calling to teach. I love my students and love what I get to be for them.
Kid: “Mr. Jason, you’re clutch.”
Me: “Oh, yeah? Why?”
Kid: “You’re the clutchest teacher up here because you seem like the only one who remembers what it’s like to be a teenager.”
Part of it is just me. Part of it is getting to do fun stuff and getting to be cool (or silly or whatever) w/o the paralyzing pressure of actual adolescence. And a big part is the very real memory of how hard it can be.
@NicholasFerroni Yes! Did this regularly at the start of the year then fell off. 🤦🏻♂️ Lately kids have been asking for it and yoga, which we also did. It can feel like there’s no time, but like I told them it’s worth the investment. Gotta start again!
Gonna keep this brief, but today’s #teacherwin: When I said to my afternoon class I prob’ly won’t be their English teacher next year, lots were bummed, and this 1 kid (who has gone from basic’ly hating me to elaborate handshakes) said “I don’t want no other English teacher” 🥰
