I’m going to say something people don’t want to hear.
I do not think Walker Kessler is on the Jazz next year. Someone is going to overpay, and the Jazz aren’t going to match. I think it’s the Lakers, but we’ll see.
That would mean the following:
Lakers would owe swaps in 28/30/32
They would owe firsts in 31/33
That would tie their picks up in some way five of six years
BREAKING: Cleveland Cavaliers All-NBA star Donovan Mitchell has agreed on a four-year, $273 million maximum contract extension that includes a player option for the 2030-31 season and a full trade kicker, CAA's Co-Head of Basketball, Austin Brown, tells ESPN.
On top of the fact that my kids’ accounts do not have the government funded money I was promised. Seems like it’s a gimmick to garner favor. Doesn’t beat a 529 yet.
Trump Accounts are a good idea with a fatal flaw that Congress needs to fix. Unlike normal retirement accounts, you put in money after taxes and when you take money out, it gets taxed. In a normal retirement fund, you put in pre-tax dollars that get taxed at withdrawal or post-tax dollars that don't get taxed at withdrawal. Trump Accounts get funded with post-tax dollars that are then also taxed at withdrawal. Congress needs to fix this.
@drob801@bjwhitley1@grrr22 In a vacuum, it was a good trade. And it may look like a great trade in 3-5 years. But the choice the Jazz made is do we want to give Walker or Keyonte $35 million/year? And I don’t think it’s a clear cut choice.
@HuddleLair Also, we only really have means to sign a FA center or trade for one who makes $15 millionish. But after Dec 15th, we will have Nurk, Hayes, and probably another $12-15 million contract to trade for a center making $20-28 million.
@utahjazzfan47 What’s the difference between the 25th best defense and the tenth best in points per 100 possessions?
What has been the defensive difference between the Jazz defense vs the Jazz defense with Walker on the floor? They are the same answer.
You know, if the Jazz had just signed Jusuf Nurkić today, we'd all be feeling pretty good about getting a highly capable replacement for Walker Kessler.
Nurk will be a perfectly good starting Center. The Jazz will be just fine
The suggestion that Walker Kessler alone could be the difference between a bottom 10 defense and a top 10 defense is the funniest shared delusion among Jazz fans
