A pleasure to meet South Africa’s Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi.
We discussed the country’s current efforts across priority health areas and our collaboration in advancing national and regional health goals.
@WHO remains a committed partner in supporting South Africa’s efforts to build a stronger, fairer health system for all.
Today I visited FF Ribeiro Clinic in Pretoria 🇿🇦, a model of how South Africa is advancing people-centred health services through primary health care.
I also had the opportunity to engage with frontline health workers driving these efforts to build a stronger, fairer health system for all.
Good exchange with @rogerkamba, Minister @MinSanteRDC 🇨🇩, on the sidelines of #UNGA80 on enhancing efforts to address #DRC’s health challenges.
Appreciate DRC’s leadership in responding to the #Ebola outbreak. @WHO is fully supporting the ongoing efforts to stop the virus and save lives.
In Bulape 🇨🇩, access to clean water is vital in the fight against #Ebola.
@WHO and partners are working to ensure this essential resource is accessible at treatment centres to sustain care and protect communities.
The fastest way to beat an outbreak is to work together.
@WHOAFRO Regional Director @ProfJanabi shares the importance of coordinated action to fight the current #Ebola outbreak in #DRC.

Today, with my brother @Dr_JeanKaseya, DG of Africa CDC, we signed the Framework of Collaboration between @WHO & @AfricaCDC.
This important milestone builds on our joint experiences in responding to health emergencies in #Africa and recognises that no single institution can meet the health challenges of our continent alone.
The Framework brings clarity to our respective roles and coherence to our collective action in supporting countries to advance health security across Africa.
Together for #HealthForAll!

Pleased to join health leaders and partners at #ICPHC2025 in Addis Ababa on advancing people-centred health systems and strengthening primary health care in Africa.

It was my honour to open the 65th Regional Programme Management Meeting (#RPM65) today in Kintélé, Congo 🇨🇬, my first as @WHOAFRO Regional Director.
Looking forward to constructive discussions with @WHO Representatives and management teams across Africa as we reflect on our shared progress and shape the vision that will guide our work in the years ahead.

Pleased to attend the Dialogue on Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV, Hepatitis and Syphilis by 2030 at the #WorldHealthSummit.
Over the past decade and a half, the @WHO African Region has made remarkable gains in preventing transmission of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B from mothers to babies.
Every child deserves to be born free of infection and every mother cared for with dignity.
Joined partners today at the @Amref_Worldwide High-Level Roundtable on Pathway to COP30 – A Climate and Health Conversation at the #WorldHealthSummit.
Africa contributes the least to the climate crisis, yet bears its heaviest burden, with ten of the world’s 14 most climate-vulnerable countries located in our Region.
Health must be at the centre of climate action to protect people, economies and our planet.
Deeply shocked and saddened by the passing of our dear friend, colleague and @WHO Envoy David Nabarro.
David was a great champion of global health and health equity, and a wise, generous mentor to countless individuals. His work touched and impacted so many lives across the world.
On behalf of WHO, I’m extending our heartfelt condolences to David’s family, friends and colleagues.
Rest in peace, my dear friend. We will dearly miss your expertise, wisdom and kindness.
"The time has come to act on the #OneHealth agenda. We must prioritize affordable, equitable, and accessible primary health care to effectively tackle our health challenges." - Dr Raji Tajudeen, Acting Deputy Director General and Head, Division of Public Health Institutes and Research - @AfricaCDC. #AHAIC2025 #ConnectedForChange @WHOAFRO@RwandaHealth@_AfricanUnion
In the face of climate change and increasing inequities, our approach to health care needs rethinking.
