Last week, walking into a grocery store in SE Portland, I saw a friend who happens to drive taxi for one of Portland’s largest taxi companies. I asked him how business was, thinking that ride share companies such as Lyft and Uber had taken the lion’s share of the market. His answer was not what I was expecting.

“Business is booming.” He said. He told me that his company had record profits in 2025.

I asked him why that was the case. He told me that his cab company had contracted as a CCO (Coordinated Care Organization) with CareOregon’s Ride to Care program.

My friend was waiting in the parking lot for his client, a homeless man, to finish purchasing items at the grocery store. The man came out after several minutes looking every bit the part of a Portland homeless individual.

In 2025 alone, the Ride to Care program, which receives money from the Oregon Health Authority (OHP) to transport clients to grocery stores, gyms, support groups, court hearings, warming/cooling shelters, and other social-service trips. The Ride to Share Program is managed through non-profits, primarily Health Share of Oregon, which receives funds through the OHA.

The cost of this program is astronomical:

Nearly 1.7 million trips
Nearly 40k users
5.8 million miles
Total estimated cost: $88 million

That is $88 million in federal and state taxpayer dollars. Besides the “Flex Trips” (social service trips), clients were also transported to doctor’s offices, substance-abuse treatment facilities, and pharmacies.

It seems that the only companies in Portland’s economy that do well have figured out a way to contract with local governments in order to tap into taxpayer funds, especially those siphoned through the Homeless Industrial Complex.

Governor Kotek wants Oregonians to blame President Trump for a proposed $250 million Bonneville Power Administration rate increase.

But here’s the part she leaves out:

After the federal agreement ended, Kotek publicly backed Oregon’s return to court. The State of Oregon then asked for increased water spill over eight Columbia and Snake River dams, the very action that reduced hydropower generation and increased costs.

Now BPA wants ratepayers to cover the bill.

Kotek supported the policy. Oregon pursued the court order. But when the consequences arrived, she blamed Trump.

Oregonians deserve affordable, reliable electricity and leaders who take responsibility for the costs of their own policies.

32% for education
25% for social programs
12% for infrastructure
12% for administration
6% for public safety
13% for everything else

The 2025-27 budget was $140 Billion, over four times higher:
18% for education
45% for social programs
7.5% for infrastructure
14% for administration
5% for public safety
10.5% for everything else

Focus on the money they are giving away: In 2001-03, Oregon spent $8.5 Billion, 25% of its budget, on social programs. In 2025-27, they are spending $62.7 Billion, 45% of the budget on social programs. That is 7 times as much and almost half the budget on handouts. The “Healthier Oregon” portion of the OHP spends $1.3 Billion and offers free medical for illegal migrants. They spent $60,000 on “homeless services” per homeless person in 2024, and the homeless count rose anyway.
Oregon schools fell to the bottom of the US reading and math scores. To fix the poor graduation rates, they passed a law that students don’t need to prove proficiency to graduate.

This doesn’t seem like they are addressing poverty or poor education; they are building an empire of permanent dependency with themselves in charge . With that their campaign strategy is, “Vote for us or the Republicans will take away your benefits!”

Kotek can’t blame Oregon’s money troubles on Trump. Democrats have controlled Oregon politics this whole time, even as the Federal government has flipped party control 5 times!

Portland Police Association Calls on Councilor Mitch Green to Resign
PPA President implores elected leaders to publicly repudiate Green’s statements

PORTLAND, OR— “Absolute monsters.” “Bastards.” “Infamously cowardly.”

Portland Councilor Mitch Green’s professed “pure hatred for the Portland police” is disqualifying, and shocking. But he didn’t stop there. His words celebrating violence against business owners and calling for destruction of private property demonstrate his deep, personal animus against first responders, their selfless work, and all of Portland.

When people say who they are, we must believe them. Deleting tweets won’t erase his reckless, destructive, and violent ideology. It’s more than just “not a good look,” as he said. His beliefs, expressed in his own words, are disqualifying for an elected official.

Any city employee, let alone a police officer, caught even muttering such virulent comments under their breath would be immediately met with swift and merciless condemnation and punishment. Our leaders must be held to this same higher standard.

We have given Tina Kotek enough time to remove or correct her lie.

So here’s the facts.

Here’s the short version received last night from the person who actually coordinated the roundtable:

“December: I’m an Oregon small-business owner who made a viral post about businesses drowning here. I emailed BOTH Kotek and Drazan asking them to meet with business owners. Kotek’s office directed me to an online contact form, which I also submitted. I never received a response.

Drazan personally called me. We talked for about 45 minutes, which led to the Feb. 10 roundtable.

Feb. 10: I co-hosted the roundtable just 8 days after unexpectedly losing my mom. About 10 business owners from different industries attended. We discussed taxes, payroll costs, regulation, permitting, land use and the realities of trying to operate and grow in Oregon. It was NOT presented to us as a fundraiser or donor event, nor did we donate a dollar to anyone! We brought coffee and donuts! That’s all we contributed to the meeting.

Drazan listened and later brought issues we’d discussed into her legislative work.

Yes, she missed SB 1527 while meeting with us. She was officially excused, the Senate passed it 29–0, and her vote could not have changed the outcome. She was back at the Capitol that afternoon.

March: Drazan brought five of us to the Capitol and arranged 7 meetings with legislators. We learned how to testify and advocate directly.

August: She followed up with the roundtable attendees. After reading my response, she personally called me again for about 30 minutes, helped me think through my development/permitting issue and suggested meeting with a county commissioner. I took her advice and have that meeting Sept. 23.

So when Kotek’s campaign posted today that Drazan “skipped the vote to meet with business donors,” it pissed me off.

I organized that room. We were business owners asking our government to listen—not people who showed up to write checks.

The irony is that I invited BOTH of them to listen. Drazan called me. Kotek’s office never even responded.

That’s the story I want people to know.”

So once again, Kotek and her staff have lied to Oregonians. This wasn’t about “donors”-this was about hearing concerns.

Something that Kotek can’t do because she would have to own up to her failures, there are many, and actually face Oregonians.

If you’re a small business owner and you vote for Kotek then you are voting to seal your fate.

If you want someone willing to listen and be available? Then Drazan is your candidate.

This timeline from what I can tell is very accurate.
