You have plenty of evidence, both empirical and metaphysical, to know that God exists and Christianity is true.

But that evidence alone is never sufficient in itself. You need to have the scales removed from your spiritual eyes, which have also darkened your intellect.

Yes. That’s grace and forgiveness.

Now she doesn’t “get off easy”. She has to deal with millions of angry online anonymous commenters. With the fact that pornographic images of her exist everywhere. With the scorn some others will pile upon her future children.

And the psychological damage must be immense.

None of us know what burden that is, and hopefully because we made better life choices.

But grace is grace: we didn’t earn it. We couldn’t. The Jesus who died for you died for her and for billions of others, and her sins are nailed to the cross and she bears them no more.

If this makes you angry instead of joyful, ask yourself why. Is this not the same grace by which you were saved? Is a new soul in heaven not worthy of great rejoicing? Do we somehow deserve our grace more than her, even if we couldn’t possibly earn it?

The reason people have died for Christ is because there IS NO OTHER way. The world demands payment and punishment. We are punished and shamed. Jesus offers a free gift that makes absolutely zero sense, yet is as real as the nose upon your face (not my face).

Be happy for people when they find Christ.
