Today we’re launching a campaign asking @ManCityCouncil to ban high carbon advertising. They’ll be joining councils like Norwich, North Somerset and Liverpool if they do #badvertsMCR https://t.co/S1VXTg6fo7
On 27 October we're welcoming @mitzijonelle, Filipina climate campaigner and former youth climate strike organiser, to Manchester. She'll be talking about the @fossiltreaty and winning a just transition with @nickdearden75, Charlotte Smith (PCS and @campaigncc) and Ameira Sawas. More: https://t.co/UCDIkJ6aub
@bryn_mainwaring@paul_bower@WalkRideGM ....all of that falls away and they are happy to approve the building of the most absurd structures; energy intensive in both build and use, providing no additional affordable housing to the city, making life worse for the people who already live in the area...the list goes on
@bryn_mainwaring@paul_bower@WalkRideGM ...and a road / highway system that puts the needs and safety of pedestrians and cyclists first.
However we see over and over again that no matter the 'fine words' about prioritising "sustainable development", when a developer comes knocking wanting to build fancy apartments...
@paul_bower@BarnabasCalder@FlorianUrban_ Yep, it'll definitely be using low carbon steel and low carbon glass, because those are both definitely things that exist.....right?
@paul_bower@DameSarahStorey@AndyBurnhamGM@bevcraig@CllrTR@WalkRideGM Apparently politically impossible to be seen to be at all against motorists in the UK. Whereas cyclists (or would-be cyclists), pedestrians, anyone with respiratory problems or who lives near a main road, can all take a running jump. Cars = modernity, in MCC + other councils 🤬
European Capital of Cycling (Manchester) hasn’t really done anything of note or worth for Active Travel on the A6 yet either. Stockport aren’t alone in their inaction
@ClimateEmergMcr And how about @ManCityCouncil and @AndyBurnhamGM pledge to protect all (carbon sequestering) urban green space from destruction, and @ManMetUni pledge either to give #RyebankFields back to the people, or dig out that ‘lost’ covenant and pledge to protect them in perpetuity?
🌍 Manchester, let's Step Up for Zero Carbon!
Over the coming months we'll be highlighting how Manchester is stepping up for zero carbon and how you can get involved too.
Step up and see what you can do: https://t.co/59KEP8AF69
@ManCity@ElectricityNW@WatesGroup@Bruntwood_UK@MAG_PressOffice Imagine the number of people who would pay attention if ManCity stopped flying to domestic games, and actually talked about that before a match. Imagine if some large builders really showed commitment to dropping gas altogether...
