Collaborative Housing provides advice and support so groups across the Thames Valley can plan, fund and build their own homes or work in partnership to do so.
The Housing Crisis is affecting 8.4 MILLION people across the UK, and the need is only growing. In the Thames Valley, we're supporting communities to take the lead and develop #affordablehousing themselves, and this is how:
'Rents rising 15% a year while Local Housing Allowance was frozen in 2020' ..That means less and less access to housing and more poverty for those who do find any. Add failure to abolish no fault eviction and less social housing and you have a policy that promotes homelessness.
One of the biggest barriers to developing more community-led housing is the lack of financing. The £1.9bn could've helped reintroduce the government's Community Housing Fund, which, until it was scrapped, was a major source of funding for community-led projects.
An interesting day today at WAMCLT conference! Thank you to the RBWM Mayor Cllr Neil Knowles for opening, Fiona Bown @cohohub and Sue Riddlestone @Bioregional and Andrew Bailie from https://t.co/pfLHxCxzUS for their informative and inspiring talks. Thank you to all who joined us!

💷 @NALC has been lobbying for it, and now the government has confirmed that the Community Ownership Fund has been extended to allow applications from local (parish and town) councils for the first time.

Homelessness if often hidden. It is not just the person effected directly who suffers but the wider community, as the 'social fabric' is stretched and tears start to appear ...

Happy International Women's Day 🫶
Women make up around 14% of construction industry professionals BUT, we have hope that this number will rise with more and more women entering construction and engineering jobs.
There is a place in construction for everyone!
