Punt Block Scope Drill
- Players must be taught a specific technique to successfully block punts.
- Coaches should instruct players to create a scope by putting their four fingers and their thumbs together.
- The player should look through this hand-formed scope while attempting to block the ball.
- A critical coaching point is to never swat at the ball.
- The motion should be similar to pushing papers off a table to pin the ball directly on the punter's foot.
- It is important for players to reach across their body to avoid crossing the punter's face or running into them.

If your holder’s front knee is up, you’re making the FG operation harder than it needs to be.

Punt Block Elevator Drill
- This drill is designed to train players on how to attack a shield-style punt protection.
- Players begin the drill positioned approximately five yards away from two shields.
- The primary focus is to work on splitting the shield to reach the punter.
- Players must lower and skinny their bodies to fit through the shield.
- Once through, the player should raise their body up like an elevator to clear the block.
- After clearing the shield, the player reaches out one or two hands toward the punter's leg to block the kick.

“Your character will take you further than your resume. Continue to be kind. Continue to be humble.”
NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal shares an inspiring message with graduates during Louisiana State University’s commencement ceremony after receiving his own master’s degree from LSU.
The Hall of Famer laid out five key rules for the graduates to live by, emphasizing resilience, humility, and continuous learning.
O’Neal encouraged students to keep learning, embrace failure as motivation, and understand that persistence is essential to achieving success.
KO-KR Avoid Drill
- The primary objective of the kickoff coverage drill is for the cover man to make the blocker miss.
- To set up the drill, establish a five-yard wide starting area with two cones placed about three yards apart, located eight to ten yards downfield.
- The coverage man's goal is to successfully navigate past the blocker and score by finishing between the set cones.
- Coaches should teach players to use an eye stun to set up their move before attempting to beat the blocker.
- One method to bypass the blocker is using speed combined with a dip and rip technique to get around them.
- Another effective technique shown is slipping past the blocker's posterior or "back-dooring" them based on the blocker's momentum.

Postseason is a whole new season where nothing that previously happened matters.
LB Scrape Spill Tackle Drill
- The scrape spill drill integrates movement skills, block destruction, and tackling into a single exercise.
- Linebackers should maintain a downhill path with square shoulders while staying tight to the double team pole.
- Proper hand placement for the spill technique requires one hand on the blocker's sternum and the other on the outside of the shoulder pad.
- Players must plant their outside foot in the ground to quickly redirect and get back vertical toward the ball carrier.
- Coaches should emphasize keeping the eyes up during contact to ensure players see what they are hitting rather than ducking their heads.
- The ultimate goal of the drill is to avoid going one-for-one by being violent enough to shed the pulling blocker and make the tackle.
