Have you noticed this SUPER IMPORTANT trend in the NCAA tournament?
Half of your shots come off the catch!
And according to analytics (HS to NBA and WNBA), they're the highest Points Per Shot or EFG%.
Each additional dribble you take after the catch, your shooting percentage goes down.
Make sure your offseason workouts are aligned with this!
Offseason workouts should contain these elements after a game-like cut:
- Shots off the catch
- Shots off 1 dribble > finishing move
- shots off 1 dribble > pull up jumper
- Shots off dribble move > finishing move
- Shots off dribble move > pull up jumper
- 1v1 and 2v2 games
The 1v1 and 2v2 games replicate the action you're trying to practice. That way, they get used to shooting and make decisions against live defenders.
Got a little insight behind Sean Miller's coaching style tonight...
I noticed a sequence in the second half when Jordan Pope missed a switch and coach Miller immediately subbed him out.
After the game I asked Miller his reasoning behind the quick substitution...
He let us know what was going on through his mind in that moment.
"There's this hill that's right outside of Moody between Moody and BBR...I was wondering if we could get them to go out there, at the timeout, run a couple hills and bring them back and then put them back in for missing the switch...It's not about getting upset with him, just trying to make sure he understands the severity of missing that. As a basketball player, it's the difference between winning and losing"

After a great tour and visit, I am excited to receive an offer from @CoachDawsonM and @CoachMeinders to attend school and continue my basketball career at @patriotswbb_ Thank you, I really enjoyed my visit... @AltonHSWBB
I called a timeout on a breakaway layup last night….and I’d do it again!!
I CAN’T STAND IT when coaches run the score up!!!
Winning doesn’t excuse disrespect.
Respect the game.
Respect your opponent.
Respect your standards…even when it makes you look crazy!
