Been talking about this a lot with the hitters I'm coaching. When that helmet goes on, it's time to turn the focus up.
Stalk the pitcher like a lion hunting its prey. Like a sniper ready to pull the trigger.
Once you strap those batting gloves up and put that helmet on all bets are off.
treat that pitcher like he's food.
Idgaf what the scouting report says. He's gotta get YOU out.
Safety is off and it's time to go into kill mode, winning one pitch at a time.
Seriously interesting how our words and actions impact others not only psychologically but also physiologically.
As a player it can benefit you greatly to watch your highlights before every game, even before a practice. Prime your body and mind for success.
In a study on baseball players, the emotional state of the coach predicted the emotional state and performance of the players
If a coach was angry, players grew more frustrated, made more errors, & were more likely to tank

One thing we’ve always told our players “nothing is routine in baseball”
Don’t assume the play is made before it’s made, mistakes happen
Never know what’s gonna happen on the diamond, rough one for sure
“You can always HEAR a good team.
The bad teams… you never hear. They don’t ever talk.
They don’t talk to each other. They don’t talk on defense, they don’t talk in transition.”
- Kelvin Sampson
Love Matt’s content, have been following him on YouTube for years. A lot of coaches just say the “what” they want, not really the “why” it’s important, Antonelli does a great job of both. His breakdowns of players/plays are always worth a watch!
Kevin and I are heartbroken by the horrible news of a deadly crash involving an Iowa Lakes Community College bus transporting student athletes. We are praying for all affected by this tragedy and their families.
Please join us in keeping Iowa Lakes Community College in our hearts.
A clip of @SonnyGray2’s final pen before Spring Training. Young pitchers take note…
- He creates a high leverage environment
- Every pitch is thrown with intent
- He competes the entire time
There’s a reason he’s performed at a high level for so long. Best of luck, Sonny!
Your at bat starts as soon as the game does.
How is the pitcher throwing to your teammates? Difference between LHH/RHH?
You could spend every inning getting your timing down, don’t just wait until you get to the on deck circle.
Instead of focusing on “hitting .300” this year..
Here are some better goals:
• Do your best today
• Enjoy today like a kid
• Play one pitch at a time
• Stay short to the ball in BP
• Get in the box the same way every pitch
• Left-center or right center
• Breathe
Day by Day…
Left: 3-4 ounce balls, Junior hack (no legs) — ride at the top
Right: 7-8 ounce ball, Junior hack (with legs) — bottom zone
⏳ Wait wait wait… late and fast… momentum with the catch no matter where it is.

What can teenagers do to prepare themselves for SEC caliber baseball? University of Alabama baseball strength and conditioning coach @brettpriceUA shares his thoughts. You can listen to our entire podcast conversation here: https://t.co/2h3GfsptVr
One thing people don’t mention often is the power of accountability. For athletes and coaches alike
If you make a mistake, own up to it, don’t make an excuse.
As a coach I’d rather have the kid that says “I’ll get the next one” instead of “this field sucks” or “it’s the glove”
