What a great day at ball park. Got to play against a first class program, Louisiana Christian University. A bunch of my JMU guys came up to watch the game. Special memories. Also proud of my CIU Rams - grinding hard and definitely improving daily.

Most hitters train to look good.

Comfort.
Clean swings.
Perfect reps.
Praise in the cage.

That’s not what decides games.

Games reward hitters who can simplify under pressure,

make clean decisions,

and trust one clear intent when it matters.

That’s how at bats are won.
That’s how runs are scored.
That’s how games are decided.

This is how I train hitters.
Not for aesthetics.
Not for social clips.

For performance when it counts.

Ask yourself, are you training to win? Or to feel good?

My advice to most hitters? Spent 50% of training on sharpening your swing (your sword)

Then 50% of focusing on winning (the battle)

Both are important. Don’t just fight, if your blade is dull you’ll get whooped.

There 100% is a mechanical advantage.

But also need to train to WIN.

The off-season for hitters is confusing.

You spend months training.. Chasing bat speed, better direction, and strike zone awareness.

But you never really know if it’s going to transfer until you face pitching.

Most hitters build a training swing, not a game swing.

They train comfort, not chaos.

Michael Jordan said it best:
“I watched how others practiced… they were deceiving themselves about what the game requires.”

That’s most hitters.

It only matters if you can do it, under pressure, on time, and in a tight window.
