Being coachable means you're willing to consider feedback even if you don't like what you hear. It means resisting the urge to make excuses or get defensive when challenged. Getting better is more important than your ego. You'd rather get it right than be right.
MENTALLY TOUGH ATHLETES SAY:
🗣 Next play.
🗣 No problem.
🗣 Trust yourself.
🗣 Control the controllables.
🗣 Flush it.
🗣 I've got the next one.
🗣 Learn from it.
🗣 Let it go.
🗣 Make an adjustment.
🗣 Focus on the process.
🗣 Trust the game plan.

Don't worry about the results today. Focus on doing the right things the right way today. And then tomorrow. And then the next day.
Progress is a process.
Show up the right way each day and the results will follow.

You HAVE to believe that you’re the best hitter in the world.
It’s all about CONFIDENCE and TRUSTING the work you’ve put in."
Just because you’re not seeing results doesn’t mean you’re not improving. Trust the process and be patient. Once your game starts coming together, you’ll see big improvements!

Some athletes only do the work that others see and want to post it on social media.
Championship athletes willingly do the work that others don't see and don't care if no one sees it.

Simple 3 step routine for hitters to prime their mind with confidence 👇 (*can easily be done without sticker and translates to all sports)
1. Have a physical action that symbolizes you activating your best, most confident self.
This can be writing “hungry lion” on a piece of tape, putting that tape on your bat, and then pressing it. It can be you doing the gesture of flipping on a light switch to symbolize you “flipping the switch”. It can literally be anything.
2. Have a mantra or affirmation that you repeat in your head (or out loud) to take control of your self-talk. This is you feeding the best within you and starving the worst.
3. Carry yourself with big, powerful body language, like someone who is extremely confidence. This may be the most important step of all.
It’s called ‘act it to become it’. Act and carry yourself like the best, most confident version of you, and you will become it. It’s that simple.
Teach kids how to lose. Losing doesn’t mean quitting, pouting, blaming or tantrums. It doesn’t mean “feel good” trophies. It means you have some work to do. It means coming back tomorrow & trying again. You can’t be a great winner without knowing how to lose & learning from it!
Being mentally tough is about:
Giving your best effort
Pushing through discomfort
Focusing on the task at hand
Blocking out distractions
Facing your fears
And staying poised under pressure
Everybody wants rewards but not everyone understands them.
The rewards are the relationships you build.
The rewards are the respect you earn.
The rewards are the strength you gain.
The rewards are the spirit you give.
The rewards are found in what you do and how you do it.

Dan Campbell said, "It's all about the work."
"We don't live off reputation, we live off of work."
You have to show up and do the work.
• It means effort.
• It means commitment.
• It means earning it, not being entitled.

Never forget that your playing time for next year is being earned today. In the weight room, classroom, off-season training, practice, how you eat and sleep. Routines. Learn how to stack one good day, followed by another, and so on. Confidence is earned … thus the key is to be consistently great. Hard work is NOT an emotion, so it does not matter how you feel. If you truly want greatness, your behaviors will match. And your goals become obvious to others. Start today!
Adversity is part of the path.
Hard days are part of the path.
Obstacles are part of the path.
Failure is part of the path.
Resistance is part of the path.
Doubt is part of the path.
If you signed up to get better, you didn’t sign up for easy.
Lean in. Do the work.

PLAYERS: Excuses and blaming things on other people will never get you closer to your goals. Losers find reasons why they can't do something. Champions always find ways to overcome challenges, avoid obstacles, minimize distractions, and get better.
“What if it goes wrong?”
“What if I fail?”
Flip those thoughts to:
“What if it goes well?”
“What if I succeed?”
Be driven by hope and belief, not held back by fear and doubt.
