Last rate increase my system had would raise average bill about $4/month and people basically called us greedy A holes

@MikeJATP @JPFar @PIOErikScott You can add more storage tanks but then you create problems for non emergency conditions where you can’t turn tanks over fast enough and eventually water age creates unhealthy byproducts that would exceed DNR/EPA regulatory limits for health and safety.

@MikeJATP @JPFar @PIOErikScott The biggest US plant out in Chicago can produce about a billion gallons in a day at max capacity in ideal conditions. The conditions I just mentioned in LA were probably drawing a few hundred million gallons in an hour it simply can’t hold up forever eventually runs dry.

@MikeJATP @JPFar @PIOErikScott If you have specific scenarios I’d love to take a look but hundreds of fire trucks pulling at the same time along with thousands of service lines free flowing for sprinklers or melted PVC lines is going to draw water out of the system so fast it can only be sustained hours maybe.

I run a fairly large system serving over 1 mil. customers and can tell you large water systems are not designed to be able to maintain pressure for such large and prolonged demand. They can’t be w/o creating other safety problems
