Derek Jeter on Game Speed: “It slows down when you're prepared and speeds up when you're unprepared.”
Preparation builds poise.
Poise builds confidence.
Confidence changes everything.
Put in the work before the moment arrives.

Guess what?
- Getting up for a 6:00 am practice is Hard
- Great effort when you are tired is Hard
- Challenging your teammates is Hard
- Being vocal in practice is Hard
- Positive energy is Hard
Do you know what else is Hard?
Winning.
Choose wisely.
PLAYERS: Whether you are starting or sitting on the bench, your team is YOUR TEAM. It's 'we', 'us', and 'ours', not 'they', 'them', or 'their'. Win or lose, playing or sitting, you are responsible for being a good teammate, positive leader, energy-giver, and verbal encourager.
PLAYERS: Your body language conveys a message to your teammates and coaches. It can show others what kind of attitude, energy, toughness, focus, unselfishness, and maturity you possess. Your body language never whispers ... it screams!
Let’s take a minute to showcase something:
In athletics, you hear a lot about freshmen grab this, underclassman get that. That’s a 5th year starting catcher with a bucket over her shoulder.
You are never bigger or better than the family, UNDERSTAND THAT.
It’s a mindset.
“Tough players can take criticism without feeling the need to talk back or give excuses. Tough players project confidence with their body language. Tough players go as hard as they can for as long as they can. Tough players are great teammates.” (Jay Bilas)
Humble in practice, hungry in play.
Champions train like they've never won and perform like they can't lose.
That's not talent; that's tenacity.

When athletes play for the team, not the spotlight, magic happens.
Success is not about individual glory; it's about collective achievement.
It's not about who stands out; it's about who stands together.

Sometimes you need to play as if you have nothing to lose. Play loose, be aggressive, take risks, and go all out! This mindset can help you play your best and defeat superior opponents.
"Winning is fun... Sure. But winning is not the point. Wanting to win is the point. Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you've done is the point."
- Pat Summitt
