Been slowly disconnecting from twitter from a while now. In a way I mourn the loss of the awesome science network that had been forged over the years. But this space doesn't resemble why I joined up anymore. P.s. I am where the skies are blue
#NewPhD available in my department to study how land use & forestry change has influenced browning of lakes, and what are the impacts on lake biogeochemistry and communities with Minna Hiltunen! Deadline 24/11/24. Check it out: https://t.co/2XX5jAh1j0
Please share - PhD with me, @BAS colleagues and @LaurenNadler@unisouthampton - Fish metabolism across latitudes - lovely team, cool science and great fish! Please contact me, details: https://t.co/YqbT2jPRsR
I'm looking for a 3-year postdoc to reconstruct food webs from environmental DNA and traditional approaches with fieldwork in Icelandic streams, Italian coastal lagoons, and the Celtic Sea. Part of a @LeverhulmeTrust project with @stefanako71. Apply here: https://t.co/IuptNR90ch
@Shark_eye_sci@OllieShipley@pmanlick What I would say is that if you are doing any form of classification or reclassification, then it is important to show these boundaries as they aren't necessarily intuitive, due to some assumptions that go into the LDA algorithm. Otherwise just showing ellipses can be misleading.
@Shark_eye_sci@OllieShipley@pmanlick Hi Jon! The trick is to construct an expanded grid of the plot and then do a classification prediction for all points. You can then add contours at 0.5 probability values for groups based on these predictions.
New paper alert from the @jyuscience coldwebs research group led by PhD Henna Kangosjärvi! Henna reviews the environmental drivers of food web structure and function in trout and/or charr cold-water lakes, out now in @FishFishJournal
