@karomancer@realDan203 Saw a video recently where a person made this very sobering observation: it's not *if* these jobs can be replaced. It's, do these people in power even care? Because they will prefer to not pay workers even if AI does a 10x worse job of it.
@karomancer@realDan203 This is why I believe the future lies in worker cooperatives instead of the traditional owner-led companies. Currently, one of the biggest selling points of AI isn't "look at all the cool things we can do" but, "you won't have to pay for labor anymore!"
I did not post about [hashtag#100DayOfCode] yesterday, and I probably wonโt today. I had an unusual situation. I had a scheduled coffee chat that turned out to be a young lady crying out for help. She wanted me to be the last person she talked to before she committed suicide.
We talked for two hours. I refused to hang up. I wanted to be there as long as she needed me. I could tell that sheโs one of those beautiful shining lights in this world. I know that this world would be less without her in it.
Iโve been there, and while I canโt completely understand where sheโs at right now, this hit hard. I know this job market is tough on people who are impacted everywhere around the world.
Please.
Take a little time today to check in on someone. Letโs make sure theyโre okay, and if not, letโs ensure they get the help they need.
I care. I listened. She sent me a message this morning, and I almost cried.

Today I implemented a simple drop-down menu that selects a year, then filters grids on 2 separate pages based on the selected year. This took me 2 weeks. I'm so glad I don't work for a private company. ๐ญ
Never eat alone, but if you're working a fully remote job, schedule coffee chats with them instead. And if your workplace is open to pair programming, try to pair program with each dev on your team equally. You'll learn so much more from having that range of perspectives. (2/2)
When I first joined my job, I knew zero C#. Believe it or not, there's still a way to provide value in these situations. Your first order of business is to make friends. Get to know everyone in your team and make friends with those outside of it as well. (1/2)
