@Coach_Lil_Erv@AngryHalfMiler@boy_net26858 It makes sense when you look at it through a genetics standpoint. Speed based athletes are born speed based. There are many, many more strength based runners than there are speed. Also helps you identify your dogs early and who probably needs to move up to 800 from 400 group.
@AngryHalfMiler@Coach_Lil_Erv@boy_net26858 I used to do it with my “true” 400 runners early season as well as 10 days out. Emphasis on true bc with the football guys who have been shoveled the FTC method it is a waste of a day.
@CoachCrumpton@Spencinoo UT would NEVER let it happen bc they want to double book and parking can’t accommodate. A&M would be the place for it, but they don’t have the seating. If only UIL wasn’t literally UT, that COI might let us have a serious convo about this.
@830finestt I would disagree. Single sport coaches pigeon hole kids into being year round, single sport athletes bc they have a very narrow lens. This kills athletic “program” one after another. We are either multi sport atw, or just switch to club model and give up.
@CoachDistance Daniels uses a ton of 3k paced work and my kids have always found it difficult. I am a huge fan of 500’s @3k pace personally, as they usually pull it back a little when they see that it’s over 400m in length, but it’s usually short enough to hit splits. Fan of 500/150 split reps.
@CoachJTAyers The business model is FLAWLESS. By the time parents figure it out, their second or third kid is grown. The next parent are clueless as they are on their first kid. Cycle repeats. Endless supply of fresh clientele…
@Top25PublicHSFB@18handicap@vypehouston Incorrect. Most of the top XC programs travel out of state every year for national caliber meets. Houston are teams traveled to Cali, Stillwater, Arkansas, and Missouri this year. Anybody can travel if they can find the funding for it and administrative support.
@walterca1107 They take their time over there and make good hires. I’m not surprised at all. I also won’t be surprised when they announce a damn good hire end of the month.
@RodMurrow Hmm… imagine if our collegiate distance coaches had been developing American runners instead of importing Africans…. Maybe we would still have a solid team.
