I think Minister Joly has done a lot of work in the past to protect Canada but she is also well aware the CCP and Chinese companies lie, steal intellectual property, used forced labour, circumvent labour practice laws by making factory workers do 12 hour 6 days a week, collect subsidies to lower prices and in the case of BYD (Hungary) An organization they have green lit to set up dealerships and currently to set up a plant.
Minister Joly @melaniejoly and all other politicians
“ The lowest price is never the lowest cost.“
Allowing Chinese EV’s into the country will hollow out the Canadian automobile, industry and devastate Canada‘s economy, and that information is back by various manufacturing industry reports. But you just need to look at history and history tells you all you need to know with respect to how the Chinese communist party kills jobs and in some cases hollows out whole industries globally before taking control to maximize economic coersion and control. @cvma_ca
They don’t play from the same playbook we do.
BYG who the Liberal government has already green lit for 6 dealerships and a plant in Canada. They were investigated for their draconian treatment of workers in their Hungary plant who are subjected to brutal working conditions 7 days of 12 hour shifts low wages and in some cases, wages were not paid for that work nor overtime pay all in the name of profit. BYG and the CCP have no regard for human life as long as those who work for them serve the states interest. It is the difference between being human and being treated like a robot. They used contractors to avoid direct accountability and contractors were guilty, fined and ordered to comply with labour laws. It took over a year of whistle-blower accounts and covert investigations to get to that point.
From CBC reporting
Severe Working Conditions: Workers reported forced 7-day workweeks, shifts lasting 12 to 14 hours, and significant non-payment of wages. @CBC
Debt Bondage: Workers were forced to pay steep recruitment fees, legally binding them to the project to avoid massive financial penalties. @CBCNews
Visa Irregularities: Many Chinese laborers were brought in on short-term business visas instead of proper work permits, denying them local healthcare and legal protections. @CBC
Being Canadian (nice) is not working and will not work. Allowing BYG will kill our US CUSMA deal and impoverish the next generation is not smart politics. It is kiwtowing to the @Canada_China and the Chinese government lobby.
I am in DC working on CUSMA and the impact of the US UFLPA legislation and it's applicability to Canada and Mexican compliance under key sections of the agreement and the US is not bluffing and our hand keeps getting weaker.

It am very grateful to the House Foreign Affairs East Asia Subcommittee for inviting me to testify on China’s role in the fentanyl crisis. Part policy. Part personal. Kisses to you in Heaven Christina Marie.
The Minister of Transport could not name a single measure he has put in place for addressing @CTVW5’s exposé of baggage security gaps at Pearson Airport. This was his first public comment despite it being a Transport Canada lead. The travelling public deserve more:
Michael Geist "Well, I think if we waited this long, we really did need more detail."
"In fact, if anything, we see it actively undermining privacy on a number of other fronts. I mean, quite literally later today, they're going to push ahead with Bill C22. It's lawful access legislation that envisions mandatory metadata retention."
"It's pretty hard to talk credibly about how you're prioritizing privacy as a way of increasing user trust when at the same time you've got legislation that, quite frankly, actively undermines it now the government released a report that outlined the strategy."
Boom! @mgeist
What kind of country or leader accuses the political opposition of being sponsored by foreigners?
Of being agents of foreign powers?
Of being disloyal to the nation because they criticise government policy?
Type it into your search engine.
Russia. Hitler. Stalin. Cuba. North Korea. Iran. China.
And Canada.
The Liberal Party calls Conservatives MAGA-aligned foreign sympathisers regularly.
The BC NDP called the new BC Conservative leader MAGA North within hours of their election.
This isn't about left or right anymore.
It's about: Can you still criticize your government without being silenced?
Some corners of the federal government continue to operate like a parody of Trudeau era wokeism.
@EvanLSolomon, if incoherent identify politics like this👇 is what’s steering Canada’s AI policy, you will be responsible for leaving Canada behind in the most important economic transformation since the Industrial Revolution.
Smith during the presser today in Quebec "I think we have to be very clear that the people of my province are very upset with the way we've been treated for the last 10 years"
"An example I gave in my speech was, imagine if an Alberta politician had come here and tried to shut down your hydroelectric business and say you couldn't develop your aluminum industry anymore."
"That's what Stephen Guilbault did to our province, and that's the reason why people are so frustrated and why they lost hope."
"It costs jobs, it cost economic growth. It cost us our ability to generate revenues to pay for the things that we care about." @ABDanielleSmith
BREAKING: Carney blows through his deficit numbers again, says his Parliamentary Budget Officer today.
He’s on track to add $23 billion more to the deficit than he projected a month ago in his spring update.
No wonder Canada is the only G20 country in recession. He’s the banker who can’t budget.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s news division released a video urging Canadians to “trust” its reporting, saying Canadians will “never ever” have to determine what is “real and what’s fake” in its coverage.
