@garyplayer@pxg Good to see you adding even more quality to an outstanding destination, loved your course and Lost City as well as the incredible Palace
@mgtruth@TonyJohnstone56 Full picture is 70% of executions for drug smuggling and accounts for increase since moratorium on death penalty removed. I’m anti capital punishment, favour rehabilitation & as per secular Scandinavia. Riyadh far less intimidating than imagined, for wife too, SLOWLY changing
@mgtruth@TonyJohnstone56 Absolutely not, as per yourself not forgetting. They’ve tried it with the boxing, huge initial eyes on and commercial successes but they’re getting bored with the toy. But TBF the religious police are no longer out in force, there is change but is it enough?
@JamesPearceLFC He’s been brilliant, ability and experience there for all to see. Slightly concerned how many times he lost balance / ended up on deck playing ball whilst changing direction against Ipswich, sometimes a sign of ageing / need to strengthen to cope with bulk. What a player though
@Harvs010@JamesPearceLFC Where did I suggest that? Simple.. I didn’t and don’t. The issue is clearly too complex for you, and I’m not getting into a battle of wits with someone so clearly unarmed and going all Spursy. Night night
@Harvs010@JamesPearceLFC Missing the point, sporting integrity is paramount IE the correct decision to uphold the purpose of the rules. Indecision in the VAR trying to interpret clear / obvious / thresholds causes the delays. Protect the referees by giving them access to best information held by VAR
Nigel’s offering a hundred days to fix broken Britain with the donations row still smouldering. Bold strategy from a man who practically set his own party on fire and is currently blaming the smoke detector for alerting the fire brigade.
Caring is cool. Nonchalance is a cop out. You don’t get unlimited chances. Get over your fear of failure. Pour your heart and soul into what you do. Try hard. Give a damn.
Roger Federer was just inducted into the tennis hall of fame. He embodies a central idea in The Way of Excellence and one that I think is super important right now so I am just going to share more or less directly from the book here:
When you hold yourself back because you fear failure or looking ‘uncool,’ you sacrifice growth and potential (and mastery and fulfillment and richness and love and all the other good stuff in life) for short-term safety and comfort.
It’s a trap. Get over it.
“In the 1,526 singles matches I played in my career, I won almost 80% of those matches... Now, I have a question for all of you... what percentage of the POINTS do you think I won in those matches? Only 54%. When you’re playing a point, it has to be the most important thing in the world. But when it’s behind you, it’s behind you,” says Federer.
He also says that effortless is a myth. “I didn’t get where I got on pure talent alone. I got there by trying to outwork my opponents. Discipline is also a talent, and so is patience.”
The world doesn’t need more mediocrity or going through the motions. The world needs more people putting themselves out there and giving it their all. The world needs more people who have the guts to care.
The best athletes care deeply.

The best leaders care deeply.
The best coaches care deeply.
The best teachers care deeply.
The best doctors care deeply.
The best writers care deeply.
The best scientists care deeply.
The best parents care deeply.
Caring deeply is the cost of admission to a big and textured life.
It’s easier than ever to sit on the sidelines. To think about the thing. Research the thing. Listen to podcasts about the thing. Talk about the thing. But these are all ways of protecting yourself from actually doing the thing. Only doing the thing is doing the thing.
Fear, doubt, and insecurity are all part of human nature. You can either go through the motions and be superficially cool (but actually boring). Or you can step into the arena, lay it on the line, care deeply, make yourself vulnerable, and fully live your one and only life.
Try hard and give a damn.

@Top100Rick The number in the group and the pace are largely irrelevant. If you’ve lost a hole on the group in front you let the group behind through if holding them up even if you’re a two and they’re a 4 or vice versa
What was it about Franco Baresi? This is what Paolo Maldini once told @Carra23 in a conversation at his home in May 2015.
“He was special. He was a short, skinny guy but so strong. He could jump so high. The way he played on the field was an example for everybody. He wasn’t a big speaker, no, no, no. The way he played, the way he trained was an example. He wasn’t like Stam, a big guy who was strong and fast. He had pace, but he was only 70kg. But let me tell you - when he hit you with a tackle, he was so strong. For me, he was the role model. He was also very good with the ball. Very, very good. It is very hard to find a good defender, who is strong and good with the ball. He was the reference.”
A light has gone out but his legacy lasts for eternity.
