Animals have evolved spectacular #social#diversity! What secrets inside the hidden #brain have facilitated this? Is the neural basis of social diversity similar within vs between #species, or #sexes? We find out in #butterflyfish! https://t.co/7n2BbWCiGG.
We have exciting news!
We are looking for great new colleagues.
FOUR #postdoc positions are now open!
Come join us in 2020 to explore reef ecosystem functions.

A veritable #cryptobenthic kaleidoscope from the @NYUAbuDhabi Bioblitz courtesy of @buzzgoatley @CokerDJReefFish. It will be important to compare diversity and abundance of this small and crpytic fraction of fish following #coralbleaching events @gobysimon @FishEvoLuke @drjlj.
Most think marine biology is a whimsical profession. In short, it is, sometimes, but only rarely. Most days involve early mornings, processing late into the night, and long hours getting taxed by the elements. @NYUAbuDhabi Bioblitz is no exception. @CokerDJReefFish @buzzgoatley
Some say it's a bad idea for scientists to do fieldwork with their spouse--too much stress on the relationship. Each is unique, so no hard rule. But 4 me, sharing the part of myself that comes alive when I'm in the field has only deepened our relationship.@CokerDJReefFish

Calling all my amazing fellow female postdocs! #LorealWIS postdoctoral fellowship applications are now open, and close Feb 1, 2019: https://t.co/bGuOhOxBPK
Our @austmus research in Oman has sadly ended (@AustArabCouncil). We are thankful to Tane Sinclair-Taylor who documented our epic journey. We are also excited about the start of our workshop @SQUinfo_ENG. Day 1 focus “Natural History of the Omani coast”.

From the field to @austmus collections with funds from @AustArabCouncil and our collaborator @AlyssaMarshell@SQUinfo_ENG. Our #fishoftheweek is my favourite seen on reefs in Oman, the Arabian Dottyback (Pseudochromis aldabraensis). Off to Musandam next!

Take some time to smell the roses 🌹. Despite a busy field research schedule, fish #biodiversity collections for @AustmusResearch, and a ton of driving time in Oman, we stumbled across a sink hole near Sur. Low and behold, we found interesting fish! @AustArabCouncil@SQUinfo_ENG
Field work is not always easy. Today we persevered through 2 flat tires, a swallowed bank card, and an impassible bridge. The payoff was time spent doing @austmus research on a remote reef in southern Oman (@CokerDJReefFish@AustArabCouncil). We miss you out here @CoralReefFish!
#Fishing is big business in southern Oman, which experiences monsoons and major upwelling. Brown hills turn emerald green, and #kelp forests rise up from the rocky reef (@twernberg). Our @austmus research falls at the end of this life spring. @CokerDJReefFish@AustArabCouncil
And so it begins. Many flights, heads in the clouds, and a motley crew reunion in Salalah, #Oman 🇴🇲 mark the start of our @AustArabCouncil funded exchange between @austmus and @SQUinfo_ENG. Biodiversity surveys, #eDNA, and a workshop bookmark the proceedings. Stay tuned for more!
